Changed my rear fender and noticed that the rear swingarm looked funny! Is this gap normal or have i broke a bolt? Crashed it last year, right side...

Time to get an allen wrench and find out. I know mine doesn't look like that. Seriously check it out. Remove the four bolts and remove that section.You could just try loosening them, if one is broke it should turn alot easier from the get go.

Well then i have to look in to it tomorrow! Dont want that to break! Damn mechanic should have gone through the whole bike! Got it fixed on the insurance, they had it from may to september! Did get my last parts at christmas!

I 2nd Jim's suggestion- get an allen wrench and pull that brace to see what it looks like underneath.

For what it's worth, I know my stock XB12R swingarm is slightly offset at that junction between the swingarm/swingarm brace.

That's just the where the swingarm brace mounts to the swingarm, so it may have just gotten tweaked during your accident. My question would be is it the brace that got tweaked or the swingarm itself. I would think the brace would go first.

it looked like the swingarm was constructed to be able to slide a bit, preventing damage.

Not supposed to remove or replace the brace without relieving the tension on the drive belt.

I didn't know that Xb9. I've taken that off without relieving the tension on the belt before. Oops.

There's not that much tension on the belt, the tensioner isnt spring loaded, it has just enough tension to keep the belt from skipping teeth on the sprocket. I can go out side right now and spin the idler pulley with the bike on the kickstand.

Mine looks similar to that...there is no gap between the mating parts but the top of the swingarm is not at the same height vertically causing a little "jump" down from the bolted on portion to the section where the rear shock bolts on.

It has always been this way. I changed to the '06 belt setup and there was no difference in how the brace looked before and after that I could tell and I looked closely.

The bike tracks just fine and the alignment of the wheels looks good. My idler pulley will also turn when on the kick stand but there is definitely a bit of drag as it rubs on the belt when doing so.

HELL YEAH! I think Buell should recall all bikes that were wrecked, and fix them back to the condition they were at the time of purchase.

That is highly unlikely. Suggest you try pulling the belt up off the front or rear sprocket. Still, sounds like time for a new belt or a new idler pulley/bearings. : )
