Yeags, Best option, in my opinion would be get off Newburgh exit and follow 9w to 218. 218 will run back into 9w and take you directly to the Bear Mtn traffic circle. 218 is one nice ride, almost all hairpin turns and a few decreasing radius turns to mess your mind up. And the view is cool too. |

yeags, listen to hammer, 218(and roads like it) is the reason these bikes exist. rich, we've got to get together for the reset, i can't wait to get that throttle response back. |

speaking of throttle repsonse...i cut some ram air holes into my outer and inner airbox cover......Made a nice gain in throttle response |

Yeah johnny, I go riding with a friend of mine down 303 and over the bear mountain bridge but Im still learning this counter stearing thing so Im a little slow through the corners till I get better. I will be in danbury Ct on the 30th so if anyone wants to go riding that day Im game. If you need directions call and ask for Jeff at the dealership. other then that keep dates posted of any rides near here and Ill go. |

Duane, that's cool we all ride our own ride. I'm pretty slow too, I still find that looking all the way to the turn takes effort. It hasn't become intuitive yet. I think once that becomes natural, great things will happen. I've also been practicing shifting my weight and hanging off a bit. |

You guys gotta try 7 lakes, its the next exit past perkins memorial drive. Takes you all around into Rockland county, You wind up somewhere around Warwick. Awesome ride, But you have to kinda take it easy in a few bits. Its very easy to run right into the back of a slow moving biker, or a car. |

7 Lakes Dr. is a good ride when, like you say the slow moving traffic isn't there, more times than not you get the sight seeing groups from the city stopped in the roadway with no room for run off or the groups of squids who havent realized that a bike can corner at over 25-30 MPH. All in all it's a great road but on weekends I avoid it. Sunday could be a plan I'll know better tomorrow. And whats the deal with the 30th? |

Lonexb and I are heading up to your area for a ride on Sunday. We will be leaving Long Island at 7:00 am. Our only thing we have planed so far is that I would like to end up in Margaretville on route 28 to check on my house and than be back in New Rochelle at 3:00 pm. for the new HD/Buell dealer's Brag meeting. The last time I went up I got over to NJ and took the Palasades Prky up to bear mountain and than 9W up to 44/55 to 209 north to 3 north to 28A west to 28 west. This time I would like to take 44/55 to 209/55 south to 55 west. I would like to know which road we should take when we get to Lackawack? 55 on the south side of the res. or 55A on the north side of the res.? Than continue to Curry and take 19 north to 157 to 47 north to 28 west. I am not to sure if we will have the time to get all this in so when we get to Grahamsville were 55A and 55 come back together we may have to start to head back towards New Rochelle. Any suggestions for a different route back south. How about 42 south to 52 east all the way back to Newburgh? Mike Long Island, NY 06 XB12X Black of course |

Hey, sorry about the brief threadjack, but what BRAG chapter covers New York, specifically the Bear Mountain / West Point area? I am going to be going to USMA to teach in three years, and want to know if there's a good BRAG chapter to join when I get there. And all this talk of 218 makes my mouth water. I used to drive that road, but that was before I had a bike. I can't wait to try it on two wheels! Thanks! (Message edited by seanp on April 10, 2006) |
