Does anyone know if the XBS mirror threads are standard or metric? Will any of the Japanese bike mirrors fit?

The mirrors are a 10mm right hand thread, and will fit most metric bikes. There are some metric bikes that have left handed threads on one of the mirrors (I think that is Yamaha), so to answer your question, yes, they will fit.
