whodom,
I don't know anything about the dyno except we put the bike in there and ran it for a long time and kept the digital tech plugged in to monitor the temps and afv and all that...I'm not trying to compare it to anyone elses dyno, except I want you to understand that the SS is capable of making alot of power and just because it's classified as a slip-on to most, in conjunction with the stock header it's a system, you can't have one without the other....

Tatsu,
I'm way behind...can't say how far..

Kevin, I have two questions about the SS, do you know have the bracket to remount the chin spoiler and will you still take my stock muffler as a core to help with the price.

side note -- When I do get the $$ for this I will need a piece of screen too to keep the bugs out of my teeth

Is there a trade-up price for those of us with original drummers?

Spike,
not at the moment but I'm working on an improvement for all Drummer owners that can be sent and installed by the owner....I need time, time, time...I'm going in 2 weeks to get some runs with this same xb12 if it's not sold by then, that will really suck....

Why are you selling yourself short?
I see 105 on that chart!

You need to update the website with the new chart!

Kevin,

About how long if I order one. I have been out of the loop lately. I guess you must be really busy with these babies. They sure like nice. Best looking exhaust I have seen by far. I bet it sounds good!

Thats what gets me - since when is the open airbox good for 9hp? (approximate diff. between dyno on the kdfab site and this one)

Cuell,
the open airbox works good, and the bike had less miles last time....I serviced the bike and changed all the fluids and we ran the bike for what seemed like an eternity on the dyno before we ever made the first pull...I think this bike will do better with some tuning....your bike will differ I'm sure as will any other....this bike has 2500 miles approximately....I wouldn't have believed it either if it hadn't done it that many times in a row...look at the fuel curve on the chart, you can see it could use some correcting...
I'm looking into that....

99 - If you average out the 7 runs its less than 105. No sense in overstating the results. I'll update the website as soon as I get a chance.

Well, our product was brought up in this discussion, so it looks like we should respond.

We think some "back to back" testing needs to be done, as we are as surprised as anyone that a stock XB goes from around 92 to 105+ HP with a muffler swap and nothing but an open airbox and non-programmed Buell Race ECM. Not doubting it, just very surprised...

Since this is nothing like any test done by anybody else, we have apples and oranges being compared, which does nobody any good and gets conversations started that have no bearing on each other. Micron might make 120+ hp on this dyno with this setup, nobody knows...?

So, we would like to offer a full blown test, back to back, with all comers invited. We need a bike, an impartial dyno of high quality (with tuning link) along with products to test. And we think we have a good idea how to do it where everyone gets a piece of the deal.

Customer or dealer supplies a bike, needs to be "broken in" so we eliminate low mileage issues.

Good dyno shop supplies the time and labor, paid for by the competitors who split the costs for the results.

Customer who supplies the bike gets to choose, free of charge, whichever product he/she likes best, and rides away with a well tuned and running machine.

This way the members of this board can see, once and for all, how different products act on the machine, same bike, same dyno, same day. Then members and owners of Buell's can make performance decisions based on their particular needs and desires from the data obtained.

Otherwise, this forum is going to degrade the performance issue into the completely useless "my dyno says vs. his dyno says", which we have spent many years in the Metric world dealing with already. We are all big boys in the business world, and competition is what makes us stronger, and thus we are all for the test.

So, do we have any takers...?

Not a "gauntlet", just need to get the information out there clean and correct, that is what "information" is all about.

For all I know we might lose, but I DO know that either way, our product will benefit from the results.

Kevin, have you tested the Drummer SS on the 9's yet? If so what are the numbers your seeing from them? I currently have the standard Drummer on my bike with the Open airbox kit from American Sport Bike, race ECM, and K&N. My dyno was 87hp.

We have a bike and a good dyno, but dont have the experience with the Direct Link. We do have Power Commander certs.

Maybee would be good to do a 9 and a 12?

I would love to say we are the place to do it, and could probably pull it off, but maybee would be better if Al stepped up? Strictly because of the Direct Link experience?

I'll donate my bike for the cause.

19K miles so far and I'll purchase the direct link software. I try to generally keep it under 5500RPM, so it should survive on the dyno. I can also bring a Force pipe to the test. I also have a Drummer and I'm willing to send it back to Kevin so he can make whatever mods he would like to it if he sees fit. Of course, if he chooses to use a Drummer SS, we'll need him to send one.

I'd like to see Drummer, Drummer SS, Micron, Ti-Force, Force, D&D.

Where do I need to be and when? If it's a long ways, I have a truck that should make the trip just fine : ). I'll need to know a couple weeks in advance so I can schedule the time off.

Prior commitments include being at Daytona for "the weekend". Other than that... I'm free.

Mark,
If I told you what it was, I'd get laughed at, ridiculed and all that, so when I get it tested, I'll let you know....

Fravel,
I'm 20 SS's behind, 7 regulars, and about 17 sets of brackets....if you want one you need to let me know, if you don't want it when I'm finished, I'll sell it to the next person....

Thanks for the offer, one piece of test is partially solved!

Guess the big question, since it seems to be the "product" of all solutions for the moment, is who can work with the Direct Link?

I think all the test should be with one fuel box, this is an exhaust test more then an intake test?

Unless intake people want to get involved as well? But even if so, we should do one side of the testing first, then alter the other side. Otherwise, the combinations are going to get out of hand?

I have a muffler on my shelf that I built 8 months ago for the shootout...it's still there...
I'm done with the contests and giving things away...go test what ever you need to...I'll stick to making my product and changing the design as I need to in the future.....If somebodies is better than mine then it will be no problem in conducting a professional business and selling the product...

Nope... The full Force system. All or nothing as far as I'm concerned.

Steve - I think we should just go ahead and only test one intake system with all pipes. I don't really see any reason at all to test with the stock airbox. I think a cut XB12 style cover with a K&N is the only thing we need (or the American Sport Bike kit if it's decided to stay with "commercially available" stuff as opposed to "dremmel chopable" stuff : )).

Kevin... I'll give you a call.

Spec-ops pipe... Sorry... Forgot about it. I think the spec ops uses the stock ECM though yes? It retains the valve?

From a potential customers point of view, I'd like to see manufacturers step up. A contender would only have to give something away if their pipe wins, and whatever pipe wins will generate more than enough business to pay for that promo many times over. It is an investment, not an expense -

Buying a banner here is an investment to garner more business. Same deal if you end up giving a pipe away. If you lose, you can keep the pipe obviously and nothing ventured, nothing gained. You've got more to win than you do to loose, as you are not the most expensive pipe by far, would not be expected to have the best numbers. Micron and Force stand to be humbled if they loose, whereas you should not win based on your price point -

It known that the SS puts up big power. How much compared to others is valuable info for both you and customers, and either costs you nothin, or gets you more dough in your pocket. There really is no downside -
