I guess Kevin spent the whole morning on Tilley's dyno. He called me up and asked that I post these runs. They are an 05 XB12S, with only the following: Buell Race ECM (not reprogrammed), K&N, Drummer SS, and open airbox. There was no tuning in between. Just multiple runs with the same setup to check consistency.

ABSOLUTELY SICK!!!

I got my Drummer SS on Friday! Kevin you are an artist, it looks incredible! I installed it on Saturday morning and fired it up! The bike sounds and drives like a whole new machine! WOW!!!

When I pulled in to grab some gas, the attendants were stunned, they thought it sounded like a big block Chevelle.

I didn't really get to hammer on it because the roads were pretty sandy, but you can feel how much more responsive and eager the power is. I can't wait for spring!

I knew I bought the right muffler the minute I saw it, started it up, and rode it. That graph just proves it! Keep the power coming!

Thanks again Kevin!

Oh whatever... Kevin was probably standing behind the bike shoving the spokes with his hand ;).

I still think you should try making a muffler for the Micron header Kevin : ). Can anyone say 108HP?

Mind you I still haven't tuned anything yet with the DL...I will get that done sometime....It's not the header M1...I just want everyone that is interested to know the SS is capable of the big numbers.....till next time....

M1 - Kevin has skooled me (over & over) into believing that its not the header. I do think it would be interesting to see what effect a nice flat A/F curve would have.

Mr_c - Dyno sheets for the SS have been up on the Badweb for a long time! Good luck with the Micron though, I don't think you will be disappointed.

I don't know Kevin... I think that header brings something to the table just like the Drummer does. I still think the combo of Micron header and a Drummer made for that header would be the E-Ticket...

I guess the way I see it is that they have a great header but they just don't know what it takes to build the right muffler.

I'm not an expert in the ways of exhaust pipes but from what I can tell, the tech they're using in that header should work. They just don't have the right can on it...

I think you could Drummerize some Micron headers if you wanted to : ), and I think they'd work better than either the Micron system or the Drummer/Stock header combo...

Just my opinion though... What do I know : )?

I know Jersey : )... But every time Kevin Skools me on that subject he tells me that you just want to get the exhaust out of the header asap. I think the Micron header will do it just a bit quicker than the stock header. Granted... I think the stock header had some VERY intelligent people working on it

/EDIT

I wonder though... What if you were to buy a proper merge collector of the right size/shape and weld it onto the bottom of the stock header? One of those neato blended ones...

Like this...

: ).

You have to admit... The stock collector is pretty ugly/dirty...

Kevin,
What are the differences between the regular Drummer and the SS drummer? Does the regular Drummer perform as well as the SS?

They may have been up but I don't recall seeing 104. Whats the difference that put it up there this time - thats a 6 horse gain or so over the last one.

Its exciting too see the numbers climbing on both pipes, and I can understand whats happening with the Micron as the ECM is dialed in - whats to dial in on the SS to get the power up?

M1- Check out the muffler/header on the RR. I've been studying the pictures as best as I can. This is what I think I see; Constant cross section header pipes. Equal length & somewhat longer headers than stock. Two pipes coming into a "Y" collector before entering the muffler. One exit at rear of muffler. Similar shape muffler body with probably more real volume.

Personally, I really believe that the Buell engineers know their shit. The exhaust on the RR looks this way for a reason - It works. It's like Erik said to me at Liberty HD when I lamented that I was trying to out think his guys and not having much luck. He said that its hard to beat a bunch of dedicated engineers who come to work every single day and do this.

Kevin's design philosophy (that he's been beating into me for the last 3 years) feels a lot like what I think I see on the RR.

Mr C - Kevin will have to answer that one. It may be the open airbox in combination with the other parts.

104 ponies with just the slip on, filter & normal race ecm? No other mods?

I feel like Wayne & Garth. Like I should be on my knees chanting "we're not worthy" "we're not worthy"

Damn good job Kevin. That Drummer SS has the beauty & the brawns.

Only 15 months to go till I can upgrade my exhaust. I can wait.. I can wait.. I...can.....wait.....I.......can.......Arrrrgggg!

No, I simply can't wait.

Hogs,
All I'm saying is that the stock header is all that is needed for my design, maybe another design muffler needs a different header, but mine doesn't....I don't know how many times I have to show it but however many it takes, I'll be there...the longer and bigger the tube the longer it takes to get the exhaust to the can...I don't know about anybody else's design but I don't want the exhaust sitting around in the pipe, I want it sitting around in the can....I know you know that the end of the pipe is the last thing that changes the flow before it exits.....I don't care about all that stuff, I know what works for me and alot of others.....

Doughnut,
I didn't check the mileage, but I'm still running the race ecm....I'm going to get around to tuning it soon, if you look at the airfuel chart you can see there's a few more to be had....

All I'm saying is if the big companies can make the power then they need to do it, the Buellers deserve it...I've seen the same silencer design for so long, it's time to change, it's been lets see how many bikes it will fit....

Hey Kevin,
Thats coollll, Just thought you might have been saying something abit different as you have designed your can for that 05 XB12S...I wd. have to say IF you put your can say on a 9 header or force header,or any other header for that means those numbers wd. I expect be way different thats all... Those are nice numbers ya got there, Now only IF ya can make it sound ear deafening like my Force LoL..Keep up the good R&D...

Hogs,
yeh, if I used a different header then I'd have to change my current design....I'm going in a couple weeks to do some fine tuning on a few things I might have coming out next year so we'll see what happens...

I make it for the 9 also....I'll get some feed back soon on them....I know it worked on Buellgators 1050 with stage 3 heads better than what I made for him with his race can.....I beat myself pretty good...

Kevin, that is pretty dang impressive. Any idea if Tilley's dyno is "liberal" or "conservative"? I ask because the point's been made here several times that it is dangerous to directly compare RWHP figures from different dynos.

I'm just wondering how this ~105 RWHP compares to the 100 that Terry hit with his Uly with the Micron exhaust and re-tuned ECM. I'm sure it's gonna be impressive to see what the SS Drummer will do with a re-tuned ECM.

How much of a backlog is there for a SS Drummer. I have a regular drummer but the SS is looking nice. I was wondering if it could be done in black?
