I have this Icon tank bag. This bag would normally attach to the tank if it was made outa metal. So I figured I'd try to put sheet metal under the air box to give it magnetic properties. :0 After making a template and cutting the metal I placed it under the box to see if the magnet was strong enough and it seemed like it would work if it was a tad stronger. The plastic box is too thick. I was thinking of just bending and bonding the metal underneath and I got too excited and sliced my thumb. I didn't bother to file down the rough edges... So I gave up on the whole thing. I put the bike back together and went out for a ride.

Isham, maybe try to devise a way to mount strong rare earth magnets to the underside of the airbox lined-up to your icon bag's mags (try tapin 'em there first as a trial). If that sheet metal was rusty, look into the last time you had a tetanus vaccination, rare; but, wouldn't want you to get lockjaw or something..

Three weeks ago I got tetanus shot. I'll see if I can find the magnets. I forgot that magnets are also attracted to other magnets, duh. Metal was all that I had lying around though.

I'm determined to get this thing working now.

Tear apart some hard drives for the magnets.

I bought another airbox and permenantly attached my tank bag to it. Works fine. Only takes a couple of minutes to change air boxes when I need the tank bag.

I went another direction ,magnets always scratch .
I removed the magnets by cutting slits in the bottom of my cortech tankbag. Went to walmart and got suction cups from the tiolet/bath area. Some kind of holder for the shower wall. I then cut 1/4by1/2inch holes in the four corners of the tankbag. My bag has a rubber coated fabric and then abs plastic ,i cut those two layers. i then pushed and twisted the cups in. Then shoe goop the slits i cut. Works great and no damage to the easy scratch plastic air box cover .I like to take all credit for this idea, but Givi just came out with a suction cup tankbag

I removed the magnets and got some strapping and fastex buckles. I leave the straps on under the airbox cover and just click on the tank bag when I want it.

Epoxying rare earth magnets under the cover may work.

I tried putting magnets under the airbox cover. It didn't work too well. I like the suction cup idea... how 'bout a bath mat with those little cups?

Big ol' washers glued to the underside of the air box work just fine.

Or, for 98.95 you can get a bag made for the bike? Just a thought
