The only thing that I really dislike on my X is the sidestand. It is one of the biggest pieces of crap I have ever seen. Maybe someone can come up with a better one.

Do you want the old style "stilt"?
When you put it down there's no rock forward.
That would be the old style 03 side stand.

Mine fell off also.

I would like one that when you let it down it stays down. That way I would not have to worry about someone messing with the bike and dropping it.

I think the side stands suck too... it makes me nervous.

Can you elaborate on the "jiffy" stand... is that a direct replacement for XP side stands?

Any other suggestions?

Thanks.

I really don't like that rock back feature on the side stand either. Feels like I'm going to drop the bike. My '03 XB9S didn't have it and it worked fine. One of my winter projects is going to be checking into the possibility of changing the geometry of the spring mount.

I was out to the local shop and took note of the new sidestands, and I gotta say, and agree

I don't like em!

I've got an 03. If I didn't, I'd be looking into back-reving the stand post haste. I don't dispute the safety aspect of the stand if left down when taking off, but I still don't like it. The potential for a tipover with this configuration is greater than a stand down riding incident...

Speaking of sidestands I had an incident with my XB12R. I was dismounting at school, and I did put the stand down, and as soon as I got off, the stand somehow retracted and I just bearly caught my bike in time to cradle it as it went down. At time I could swear that the bike looks like it leaning over more than normal.

Check the side stand bolt if it looks like the bike's leaning more than normal. It could be loose and in need of tightening.
