Put a deposit down on a Ulysses this weekend. It will be here in about a month or so (actually it will be in Florida, 700 miles away, in a month or so!).

This will be my first Buell, and I have no experience with the bikes. Never owned a Harley either (rented one once, but that's it). I know Buell is not Harley anymore than a Mercedes is a Chrysler.

Is there anything I need to be aware of. Little tips and tricks to make owning the bike better or easier. Things to look out for? Based on the reviews of the bike, it seems to be what I'm looking for. A big sportbike for a 6'5" 36" inseam tall guy (me!).

I have an FJR1300/ABS to sell before the Uly arrives. It's a pretty tricked out bike, so it should go pretty quickly. Just listed it on eBay yesterday, so no bids yet.

I'm hoping the Buell is the bike for me. There is such an anti-Buell bias out there that most of my friends are teasing me for buying a "Harley". One has offered to take up a fund for my chaps and beanie helmet. : ) He's being an a$$ on purpose of course.

I can't wait to run it up the tailpipe of his V-Strom! LOL!

What am I saying...I can't wait to pass him on the outside!

Welcome. Congratulations on your purchase.

This is a great Web site with tons of info and great people who are eager to help.

A lot of tech stuff in the Knowledge Vault too

You might want to try an additional thread on the "Big, Bad & Dirty" location instead of the "XB".

"Big Bad and Dirty" is Uly specific on BadWeatherBikers, while 'XB" is for all the rest of the XB series (XB9/12R, S, City X, etc..)

Get the Service and Parts Manual. One of the best purchases you can make.

I ordered mine thru Daves, one of the sponsors / HD of Appleton Wis. If the dealer you are getting your bike from doesn't have one, you can contact him or any of the other sponsors of this board. I found dave to be very responsive.

Chad,
I hope that you won't get tortured like I am. I ordered my Ulysses a month ago. I passed up on one that they had in stock because I have a thing about early production runs. It came in last Thursday. (I was hoping to take it to the Liberty event). Apparently they truck the bikes and mail the titles. I can't take delivery because the title hasn't arrived. It's making me nuts. I'm running out of good weather.

Brother, there is a plus to living in Florida sometimes. Only problem is we have so many riding days it makes doing things to my bike hard because I hate to waste a good riding day. I'm planing on adding tons of LED bling to my bike soon.

Congrats on the bike. I second this is a great site for Buell info. Lots of smart helpful folks here. I started checking this place out a couple months ago, and picked up my XB12X Saturday. I'm an old fart and loving it with only 100 miles in the saddle.

Living here in Tennessee, I can't wait to get the bike up to the mountians next year. It will most likely be too cold up there by the time I get the bike and get it broken it.

I'll check out the other forum here for sure!

Congrats Chad! I saw your thread of at advrider and had a feeling the Uly was calling your name! I've been lurkin' over at advrider since July...about the time of the speculation thread and release of the Uly. It's been interesting to see the opinions from a different type of rider and the normally non-Bueller. There were a few naysayers, but I must say the majority of the guys over there are opened minded are are very intrigued.

You've definitely found the home for all the information possible on your new toy. Be sure to look around and check out the "Big, Bad and Dirty" section and the FBRAT thread in the "Tale Section". You may or may know about the trip Ferris went on someone elses Uly, but check it out anyways. (He also owns an FJR and I can tell you he sure could ride that thing when I rode with him this past spring!)

Again congrats and welcome to the sickness.

Ah, well got my Uly on order and can't wait to get it in either. Ordered at the begining of the month and now waiting until mid of Oct. to get it. Can't wait for my first adv. with it. Got the bags and all with it. If only I had it now. Guess my Blast will have to do for now.
