Hey guys I have a question- I need to know if anyone knows about the cali emissions on the xb's because I found the bike I want and it was originally from there. The owner in fact told me it has it. I want to know if it is slower than the other machines or is it just for cleaning up the air better. It is a 9s with the regular mods jardine, filter, race ecm. It has the canister below the air intake. Can anyone tell me if it makes any differences in power and if I can take it off?? Thanks guys I might be riding soon yess

The only difference is the charcoal canister, which is easily removed and will make no difference at all. Other than that, it is the exact same beast.

When you remove the charcoal canister, don't forget to reroute the fuel tank vent line to the ground and most importantly, don't forget to plug the vacuum line at the throttle body.

Apparently, it doesn't hurt anything but the appearance of the bike. There should be no performance impact. However, it comes off in only a few minutes, and I had everything rerouted and plugged in about a half hour. I can take pics and email them to you if you like.

Steve.

The ugly black canister just looks out of place hanging off the side of the bike. Kind of like an afterthought. Oh yeah -- it was an afterthought... I guess it's not so bad on an R as it is on an S -- doesn't the R hide it under the seat?

If there is no performance differences I will most likely leave it there till the end of the season. That is when I am going to do some work on making it my own. If you know what I mean.
