Will there be similar alterations to the firebolt as there were to the XB12Ss? Would those same alterations make for a better handling motorcycle. How about a 12 volt charger on all Buells? Also, I live here in Albany, GA and find myself in the local dealership quite often. I have never seen a brand new XB9R for sale since the XB12's debut in 04. Where are all of the XB9Rs at?

I've been looking for a 9R, as well. None to be found. The three dealerships that I went to only had the 12R. One dealer said that they could get a 9R, but no plans on getting one in the showroom. Does it appear that the 9 is slowly being phased/pushed out!?

My guess is that if the dealerships had both bikes on display to be test ridden not many would be able to tell the difference between the two and purchase the least costly XB9R. I tested a XB12R not long after buying the XB9R and could not tell an immediate difference. Oldsmobile said that they made an Alero with a five speed manual and a four banger for frugal buyers. I went in search at various dealers and not one salesman had ever seen one hit the lot to be sold. It seems that the XB9R is the front bike to get the other ones sold. I think that the XB9R is the best choice for now until the they create a model that would leave it in the dust in terms of comfort, acceleration and all out performance.

The salesman I bought my XB9S from said he actually prefers to ride the 9 due to the quicker and higher revs. He didn't tell me this when I bought this bike, but when I went back asking about buying the 12 and trading in my 9. Now he could have told me that the 12 was better to make some $$, but he told me the way he actually feels. I think that is the reason their is not many 9s in the showroom. They got mine from their warehouse, not the showroom.

Snackbar,

Which changes to the XB12Ss are you referring to?

Spike,
For the most part I was referring to how they have stretched the bike to make it more user friendly while still delivering excellent handling characteristics. Also, the XB12Ss carries more fuel which would certainly come in handy. I have a question for you. Do you think that the City X tires will provide the same surefooted handling on the Firebolt?

Hey Snackbar, have you tried the macon dealership looking for a 9R? Its another anti Buell dealership, and last I talked to them, they still have bikes in crates. You might want to give them a ring.
