Looks good, like the black passenger mounts. Where did you get the brake pedal? |

That brake pedal is from American Sport Bike. I have the same thing on my Firebolt. |

i used aircraft aluminum stipper. It works great and you should be able to find it at any auto parts store. |

Very nice. I am afraid it would turn my silver XB into a cop magnet though. |

Looks good, did you tear the bike down or do it put together? I want to do mine but figured I would need to tear it apart to get it done right. As far as the polishing process here's how I do it. Depending on how smooth the metal is and if I need to get rid if inperfections in it or not. I will start with like 220 and work my way up to 600 grit. I always go against the grain of the previous sand paper scratches. That way I know when I get them out. The I use brown tripolli on a buffing wheel going against the grain of what I have sanded. till I can't see them anymore. Then I go with the buffing wheel to polish it. Go to white compound and repeat the same steps. Then finish with Jewlers Rouge. (Message edited by Hooliganxb9s on August 16, 2005) |

Norrie A shine on those headers would look great on that already shinny bike. |

I have a question concerning warranty on frames that have been polished. I like the look, but does this diminish the integrity of the welds? Seeing as how the frame doubles as the fuel tank I would be very careful about grinding on those welds. I could just imagine some dealer failing to honor a warranty by claiming: "Well it wouldn't have done such and such if you hadn't grinded those welds". Perhaps one of the factory folks could chime in here. Does polishing the frame void the warranty or is it up to the discretion of the dealer performing service? |
