I have taken a firebolt on demo for laughs and was going to take a xb12 out but just before doing that I found a 2001 x1. I was almost dead sure i was going to get either a 2001 or 2002 x1 but there was a slight chance a xb12 . Well My first thoughts was this bike is too small for me ! Is it my imagination ? Im 6 1 255lbs , My x1 fits me perfect and after finishing up i took it to the dealer, went back and looked at the xb12 and just thought now way, A brief talk with a sales guy about comparisons and he kinda beat up on the xb12 , he had a 2002 x1 white lightning for awhile but just sold. Ha said the x1 is way more comfortable and told me to be happy with what i got , well I was and since we were both about the same hight and wieght it made me wonder do other people have this opinion too or is it really my imagination? |

I am 6-1, 215, was concerned about "Looking" like a grape ape on tricycle on the XB12(r), but after riding for a few weeks, I got over that. I have had the bike 11 months, have just gone over the 9k in mileage. Very comfortable, lots of fun. Hell, I took a three day 1100 mile trip with a bunch of cruiser buddies, I was the only one not complaining. Have a friend with an X-1, likes it alot, has about 7k miles, had a few small probs with. He's about 5-10, 250, has changed the seat, and put clip-ons on it. He has test riden the xb several times, and wants one, but $$$ dictates his situation. Either way, enjoy the Buell |

I love the designs and tech that went into making the Xb's . I might try again somewhere down the road . Another bonus is now realizing that I am going to have to take care of two bikes from now on. Lots of advatages not having rug rats. Thanks for the posts |

I have a '99 S3 and an XB12S... and I love them both. For obvious reasons, the XB is much more refined but the S3 is a bigger bike and provides a different but, still excellent ride and handling. I agree with the rest of the replies... Ride what fits you and what you like. You'll be happy, no matter what you choose... and you can't go wrong with an X1 or an XB. 6" 215lbs... and they both fit me fine. |

The X1 is more comfortable, but not nearly as refined. If you stick with the X1, make sure that the intake system is not leaking where the elbow connects to the throttle body. Also, the airbox does not seal for S___. I sealed the elbow/throttle body with a ton of RTV because the plastic was warped so badly and then cut the elbow and clamped on a universal K&N that had about 2.5X the surface area of the original or K&N replacement. The IAT sensor can be fit in a hole drilled in the rubber filter end quite nicely, but you will need to lengthen the wires. |
