Oke, so we had discussions about correctly mounted LSL Steering dampers and fender damage. Some of you may recall ....

Some may also recall that my suspension is set quite stiff. Preload is showing 2 lines.

Here's a pic of the damper mounted:

So correctly mounted, stiff suspension and it still hits the fender. This sucks ....

Hard to see, but where are your forks in your triple trees? I can't see the wire stop at the top of your top picture, is it right up against the top triple tree? If yes, you have two problems: 1) the damper is hitting the fender, and 2) the Clamp is not squarely on part of the fork that is flat, i.e., you are clamping too much of the tapered section.

The instructions I followed when I put the damper on said to lower the forks in the triple tree until flush with the top. I split the difference, didn't lower them quite that far.

Where are the forks relative to the triple (take a picture, post it)?
How much do you weigh?

Al

Cataract2, It's from the damper. Paint was still on there.

It looks worse than it really is because the paint job is really lousy. They just sprayed it on without prepping the parts, so the paint just comes off in large pieces. It must have just hit the paint because I couldn't see any big scratches on the fender itself.

Al, I haven't changed the forks for the simple fact that I don't want to alter the geometry. I am really happy with how it is now. I try and see if I can get the fender closer to the tire a bit, otherwise it will get hit every once in a while because I refuse to alter the geometry.

Simple case of "too bad, move on". ; )

I have a dampener on my bike, however I installed it a bit differently and haven't had any issues.

Here's a pic for ya

I should add that it looks like it would interfere with your knee when riding but it doesn't.
At least it doesn't for me, not sure about someone with really long legs.
