I just noticed that if I turn my bars ALL THE WAY to the left the front brake lever hits the side of the gauge cluster and LOCKS the front tire,I've tried adjusting the levers to the farthest setting but it still hits.Anyone had any trouble with this,or is it nothing to worry about since I don't THINK I ever turn the bars THAT far but I'd hate to find out the hard way that I do it all the time or something. |

Man, if you can, post up a pic... I've not heard of this problem, perhaps you need to loosen and adjust the clamp?? |

Second pic is from below its hard to get the angle from the top but it hits it enough to lock the front tire. The last 2 show how far the bars have to be turned to have it hit so im not sure if its actually a problem or not yet. |

I also have those levers. Inever really paid attention to see what happens when they are locked left or right, but maybe yours could be angled too far down. hmmm, I'm gonna have to go check my bike. |

Other than the potentially deadly contact, how do you like your levers? |

I have those levers on my bike and don't have a problem, but I'm going to check. You might need to rotate the levers up or down slightly to gain some clearance. Now were did u get those blue preloads? My red ones are sun bleached. |

I JUST got my bike started!!!!!woohoo!!!!! took it up the street n did a lil smoker but when I went to turn around the lever DID hit n locked the front. I went n adjusted it up and down to try n get some clearance and now the brake CABLE binds on the fairing support I tweaked n twiddled it around a little n now I got it so just the cable hit a little when the bars are turned all the way so I'm not sure what else to try other than mabye get a new(slightly longer) cable. The preload adjusters came from Dave(sorry I took so long to actually order em Dave) |

Thanks, Dave! No worries - I have precious little time to do the mods in the next couple of weeks, anyway. Waiting just makes it that much better when they get here! Diet Pepsi to you! |

In the third pic from the top, you can see that between the brake lever assy clamp and the switch block there is a gap... Perhaps if you were to loosen the clamp and try different positions of the entire assy... |

Are you sure they are for the XB? I've heard of problems on anouther XB and it turned out that the guy had levers for a tube frame. |

Good point MS... The application number for the XB brake lever is AN-531. The application number for the tuber brake lever is AN-521. |

In fact, if you search you'll find the reference where there was a guy who put the 521's on his XB and his front brakes kept locking up. That little piece of metal kept the brakes pumped after the first application. Bad, bad, bad. If you buy them from Al, he'll make sure that you have the right ones. The ones for the XB's are the same units used on R1's, BTW. Mine absolutely do NOT touch in any way. You must have the wrong ones... Chris |

They are from Al and they are the 531's. In the second pic you can see were the brake cable is binding when the bars are turned ALL the way to the left and in the third I'm thinking I can mabye loosen it up a little and get about a quarter inch of slack n it should be fine. I haven't been able to ride n check to see if the cable binding will lock the brake

Man, thre is something WRONG there if your brake line is that tight... The XB's have a pretty crap turning circle and you need all the turn you can get, but I've never seen an R do that with the cable... If you like, take a million pics wide out at good res and email them to me direct, cos those pics really aren't showing me the problem... If I see anything I'll crop it out and post it here... Either that or see if one of the other lads here is in your area can help you out... |
