Sounds like the battery has breathed its last, check connections at the battery are tight and if you have a multi meter check voltage after the battery has been off the tender for a couple of hours, a full charge should be about 12.7 volts or take it to be load tested at a battery shop.

Thank you was my initial thought, seems to take voltage but any crank power just isn't there. Was concerned if it was earthing somewhere under load. Will try to borrow a battery and give that a shot.

If you know someone with a 2004 on Harley Sportster they have the same battery, not sure about the earlier ones.

Just got battery load tested. It's a 220cca which was putting out 115 and dropping to 7.4v under load. So a fair suspect. Will start there and see if cures it. Thanks for the help guys : )

My 1125CR, I had the starter solenoid replaced a couple of years ago, put about 8 miles on it, And it wouldn't start. I keep it on a tender, has 12.5 volts, everything boots up, but will not crank. maybe another trip to the dealer is in order. I have a 2015 Toyota Yaris I bought outright I'll sell to get it fixed. have no clue, getting it put back together.

Depending on the type of battery, 12.5 volts can be nearly dead.

That is the problem with generic battery float chargers. They allow some battery types to drop too low before they resume charging.

It is important to understand that all the ECM functions are driven from the same battery that starts the engine. If the battery voltage drops too low during the high current discharge that occurs when the starter motor is cranking the engine, the ECM may not function. My point is simple a static battery voltage test alone is an insufficient test if your battery is ok. The easiest test is to simply place a car battery in parallel with the bike battery. If the bike then starts and runs, the bike battery is bad.

Battery only - not a running car...
