Was looking at my "Instant Mileage" today. Got to wondering how the ECM comes up with it. Does it actually measure fuel flow? I know some aircraft have flow meters.

The Froggy probably knows for sure, but there is no flow meter per se. My guess is that data from fuel pressure sensor and injector timing can be combined to estimate fuel consumption - combine that with odometer data and you get MPG.

It might be covered in the service manual somewhere I haven't looked yet.....
