I think you're right, all the photos I've found indicate there should be nothing there. Any idea what it's for?

Buell had that spare hole put there for all the people that believe that there has to be a problem with their bike , after all a Buell can't just be Ok can it ..... so they put the spare hole there so that you can still think there's a problem when in fact your bike is just as reliable as any other out there on the road ; )

Thats for your muffler bearings,don't use the red bearings though the black ones are much better.

It was never used. Possibly for the full fairings that never made it into production, or a potential mounting point for the exhaust.

Kevman, with the amount of clanking and rattling it's sometimes hard to believe that it's working as it should be : D. However, since it just came back from having a new stator and rotor installed, it wouldn't be too far fetched that the HD tech forgot a couple of screws somewhere.
