Hey so today I was riding into work, it was about 75 outside, so nice and cool. Well I noticed right off the bat that the voltage at 5,000 rpm in 2nd was at like 12.8 and dropping. But, when it hit 12.3 it started charging back up to 12.5 or so but never any higher.

So, my question is...

Do you suppose that the relay in the HD harness could be bad? My system has been charging like a beast with stock stator and the Air Cooling Rotor mod that i got from Hildstrom. I normally will charge at like 13.7-14.5 all day long.

Just want some input, Im an aircraft electrician so I know quite abit about electrical systems. So please feel free to go indepth if needed! Thanks Guys!

The relay is a common failure item. You could swap another one in or bypass it to check.

To bypass do I just disconnect the hd harness and reconnect the regulator to the stator?

That's what I'd do. Alternatively, you could unplug just the relay and insert a jumper to complete the stator circuit.

Well unfortunately my stator died...But I can see that the Air cooling mod is working, there is a good oil pattern on the rotor that follows the drilled holes.
