So had a great day on the bike today it was running great put about 200 miles on her in the mornings with no problems. Came home before heading to a friends and decided to check coolant level as it was running hot, not really hot but worth a check.

Level is fine, havent changed coolant since new (08) and can't really tell is its still a good color so drain the overflow bottle into a bowl to have a look if its starting to change color. Its all good, top up with some new HD coolant I have laying around which is orange but brand new.

Run the bike for 10 mins with the rad cap off fully burp it all looks great. Head to my friends 30miles away have dinner then head back.

5mins from home I pull up to a stop light see mist in the lights and smell a lot of coolant. Temps are OK so I hobble home and put her up on the stands. Long trail of coolant from garage door to the bike pooling under the left pod...

Take both pods off there is nothing in the right rad or overflow.

Its late and I actually have to go to San Fran tomorrow for work so won't get to have a look for a couple of weeks.

Any one have any ideas? Blown rad? Is that possible, Would it be OK to leave the bike for a couple of weeks with no coolant in?

Help?

Andy, I'd say that your left radiator isn't operating.

The reason I suspect the left radiator is I had the same problem and was puking coolant out because the fan wasn't cycling during a ride in 2011.

Check and make sure the left fan is operating once it gets up to temp.

Hal's Harley replaced the left fan and ECM under warranty. All is good now.

Thanks Guys,

Both Fans were running fine before, but I will check again. Its going to have to wait till I'm back from San Fran though thats a few weeks.

Its OK to leave the bike with no coolant in it for that long right?

It's fine to leave it with no antifreeze as long as you don't start and run it with no antifreeze for more than a brief moment. Just sitting won't hurt.
