I just seen the post about drag racing and got me wondering how everyone launches there bikes?
I want to drag mine by the end of the year, but never really tried launching it yet. I have an RT3 pipe with EBR ECM, and like to keep both wheels close to the ground.
For me, I found hold the revs around 5K and fast feathering the clutch worked best. A good burnout helps. It took me a while to get the clutch action right, but when it is right it works!
I bring the rpm up off idle, not sure to where, I just do it by sound and feel. Not too high, maybe to 5k, but I doubt it's that high. I let the clutch out to where it's just starting to "touch", then when it's time to go smoothly, yet quickly let it out while rolling on the gas.
Against my competition, I do pretty well, almost always get the hole shot into 1.

One of many race starts, this one you can see my throttle hand (and the bikes I leave on the line)
