I got a DDM 55w light kit and hooked it up no problem but when I got everything finished up the left light comes on for about half a second and then goes back out.Pulled it all back apart and switched ballast and am not sure what I did but they both worked fine.I even tried them one more time before I reinstalled the fairing and all was well with the world.Got the fairing and everything installed and it is doing it again.Same bulb.Any suggestions?I am about ready to just block off one side and go endurance racing style: )

Sounds like it might be the bulb, since the ballast switch didn't change the problem

I have been Having issues with DDM tunings quality ever since they started shipping Direct from China. I just got a set of bulbs that are nowhere near the same color. Never have any problems with there replacements they ship straight from Cali.

Thanks Nutty.I still can't figure why one will do it and the other won't and it will work until I put the fairing back on.Electronics never were my bag. What do I ask for at Radio Shack?

You probably had the wires mixed up the first time. You need to make sure the polarity going to the balasts are right. The symptoms I got when the polarity is backwards is what you described but sometimes they would work ok even with the reversed polarity. Double check it just in case.

Luis is correct - the polarity as recv'd from DDM is backwards - you may want to chk it - the best way to fix it was to cut off a polarity key on one end of the connectors and connect the wires ...tapeing the connector together...i don't remember the exact connectors involved - you need to chk that the polarity (+) and (-) is correct as it comes from the bike to your first connection.

the capacitor is an electrolytic, axial lead, 4700 MFD, 35VDC...a higher voltage will work...on the RS web site Cat# 55047113 for $10.73 ea...is similar to what you see in the picture...NOTE! the polarity of the wires in reference to the capacitor the arrow on the cap flows from red to black
