Depends on the state. In Texas, it MOST CERTAINLY is a felony, and one taken very seriously, too. |

Hire a Lawyer/Attorney.
I have a good one local to San Diego, he is like 10 and 1 for getting myself and friends completely out of tickets. Its only like $100.
They know all the people in the court system, and reschedule the dates for the officers day off so they won't show up to court. Plus you don't have to do anything. Its well worth the cost to have someone else deal with it.
We all know the systems crooked, but this is the easiest way out. |

The turn lane is not a "center lane", and passing in a no passing zone is always a no-no.
See if you can go to driving school to make the ticket go away. If you have not had any other moving violations in the past couple of years you should be able to do this. |

Is there a "Guilty with Explanation" plea in your state? In MD you used to be able to go to court and plea that, then normally pay the fine and additional court costs but the points would be dropped. |

I believe in the state of Ohio if you dont get pulled over you cannot recieve the ticket regardless of getting your plate or not. I've heard they actually have to have you off the bike and cannot lose site of you at all during the chase.Otherwise theres no proof that it was you doing it just your bike |

I would do traffic school but in AZ you can only take it every 2 years and I'm about 4 months out on that....
When I lived in FL I used a traffic ticket attorney to get me out of 4-5 tickets all for under $150 but here in AZ every one wants +$500 to take the case and they don't give me much in terms of hope when emailing or talking with them... |

Do a google for Ticket Fixer in your area. If the are is large enough, you will have a handful of attorneys that do specifically that work. |

Pay the ticket and do not pass in the turn lane again. In some areas if the fine is paid before going to court it never shows up on your record. |

So someone tell me how hiring a lawyer alters the outcome? Most speeding tickers are pretty cut and dry. Do these lawyers look for legal loopholes which the layman doesn't know about or do they use their "connections" to get something done?
Any savings on the fine will go towards the lawyer's fee, so we are talking about the points, which means the lawyer has to avoid the conviction.
My only legal experience is thru a friend and his DUI a few years ago. I will tell you the lawyer did nothing but effectively increase my buddy's fine by $3,000. I wasn't impressed at all. |

It depends widely on the lawyer and jurisdiction.
The traffic guys around here (Dallas) are $75 to work a ticket. Generally what happens is you wait around 14-36 months and finally get a notice in the mail your ticket has been dismissed.
Once I've gone to court, and the officer didn't show up. Dismissed.
Only when I've not used a lawyer have I had to go down the deferred adjudication route where you have a fine and a probation. Fine is generally the amount of the original ticket + court costs, so the lawyer thing is a big savings and a ton less trouble.
Now, in other jurisdictions like Arkasas, I've had a court clerk tell me "your options are guilty and pay." In that case, I got an attorney and paid MORE, but they kept the ticket off my record.
In other courts in Arkansas, like Marshall, that's a speed trap. So, I simply called the court and offered to pay a probation fee, and they happily agreed, no lawyer required.
So, if you don't know the area, you sometimes ask around and find out what the best approach is. |

Yes, they know the judge/DA. They go to them and propose something.
All of mine have been changed to improper equipment tickets with no points, just basically pay the fine you'd pay anyway} |

That's the goal of the traffic attorney, keep the points off your license, you will still pay, but your insurance company won't jack you rates. |

Sorry for the other thread... I figured out how to update this one after all.
Went to court today and after sitting the the bench for 2 hours waiting they called me up... The judge called for the officer who was not to be found and they dismissed my case and told me it was my lucky day!!! |
