I had to change out my license plate holder, and when i did i removed the reflectors from the turn signals and license plate. Is that illegal? just wondering if a cop would pull me over for it?

Yes illegal. Doubtful you would get pulled over, but of course within the realm of possibility.

Nevermind the lack of visibility you now have.

Oh...wait....cagers ALWAYS see us.

As for the legality, usually in Maryland it's a secondary offense. If you're doing something else wrong and get stopped, this will get tacked on. Kinda like not wearing a seatbelt - not a primary (get pulled over just for it) offense, but still ticketable.

i don't ride at night, so the reflectors shouldn't be a big deal for me as far as visibility, i just don't want a bs ticket.

Uh. the only time I think reflectors come into play is if you drop your bike perpendicular to the road. I never notice a bike's reflectors at night.

This is why you'll see the little red reflectors for sale as license plate bolts.

You can get ticketed for it in NY.

yeah you can be ticketed but then again the cop has to know that they are missing to begin with...

Its real easy, all bikes have them in some form of another. They have "safety checkpoints" in NY where they pull you over and write you up for every thing from non legal pipes to missing reflectors to too tall handle bars and pretty much anything else they can make a quick buck off of.

Well in Florida its hot 24/7, has nasty hurricanes, no roads worth riding, and $1000+ fines for wheels coming off the ground.

I will stick with going around the checkpoints near major events.

I want to move to areas where the cops have nothing better to do than ticket people missing reflectors on their bikes. I've run without for 12-13 years and never had a problem. My Sportster is also without front fender, turn signals, mirrors, a horn, and any gauge what-so-ever, and with a loud Thunderheader. I already took the rear reflectors off the 1125 and if the front ones start to annoy me I'll do the same there.

i would take 24/7 hot to cold anyday. Even if its 80-90F outside, its still ok to cruise on the freeway. When its 30-40F or less it can get pretty miserable on a bike.
