I ordered some brake pads from an outfit called hyperformanceparts.com and was completely dissappointed by their lack of customer service. They have never picked up their phone or returned an email. After a week of this I filed a PayPal dispute and lo and behold received yet another auto email claiming product had shipped. Shortly after I got Quantum shipping notification with tracking. I ordered Monday last week and the item ships Monday this week.

That, to me, is too long to wait for a product to ship.

Am I just spoiled by the excellent service I normally receive from main stream vendors? Or is it unreasonable to pay and wait a week before receiving shipment confirmation?

For me the low price was not worth the long wait so I purchased pads from the dealer at twice the cost to meet my own self-imposed deadline of weekend service.

What do you guys think? Would you have just waited without getting all wadded up about it?

In my experience, most websites have a section with "parts ordered online will ship within xxx days of order being received" as a warning.

And...we've got a ton of great vendors here on Badweb who always appreciate the support.

Just order the pads from American Sportbike. Good prices and fast shipping.

I hate to say it, but its you get what you pay for. American Sport Bike isn't always the cheapest, but the service and quality of support can't be beat. Same with computer parts, I usually order from Newegg. Sure, store XYZ, may have it $5 cheaper, but I don't know how long it will take to get to me, and then I probably am on my own should there be an issue.

I order from American Sport Bike simply because I value my time and if there is any problem, they fix it quickly. To date, all problems have been on my end.

The other end of the equation is that I bought a ton of stuff from Barnett's a couple weeks ago . . .never arrived. Their response is . . "it's between you and the carrier".

Case closed . . I don't have time to chase it down.

Sounds like that vendor implements "just in time" fulfillment...
In other words, they don't keep much stock and send it to you when they receive it after ordering it from their supplier with your money.

American Sport Bike gets my vote (and dollars), too.

Thanks for the sage words guys.

I broke my first commandment of online vending: call first.

I've been buying from American Sport Bike for many years, ever since I got my first Buell in 2001 and starting looking for goodies. I agree the service is top rate and I have always been happy to do business there.

The Harley shop had some, and I know the price was inflated, but the OEM pads are actually damn good. Next time.

Thanks.
