They do tend to be loose. And yes, I too dropped mine --- on the freeway at about 70. Fortunately it landed soft side down, out of traffic and only sustained a few small scuffs on an inconspicuous edge. Can't really blame that on the fit; I just didn't check that it was latched before I took off.

Mine seemed reasonably tight the first time or two it was removed and put back. But after a few times, it's pretty wiggly now. So long as it doesn't come flying off when it's latched, I'm cool ...

Anyone know if the latch is adjustable for tightness?

Not adjustable, it's the way they are.

My Firebolt was pretty loose, my 1125 fits a little snugger and doesn't make much noise.

Of the 2 CR's in my garage, one is so loose I can fit the straps of the saddlebags under it, and it's like it was made for it, and the other is so tight I can barely get it installed.

A bit of variance. It is what it is.

I wrapped my XB12R and 1125R passenger seat base with electrical tape, the(U)shaped part that slides under the subframe rail,on the 1125r models it would be just above the battery. All it dose is take out most all the slack you guys are hearing and feeling,
Hope this helps

Mine also is loose but it doesn't bother me too much any more. I haven't had the time to take a look at it but its not that important to me.

Only thing I want to do with mine is put enough tension on it so that it 'pops' up when I turn the key to unlock it. Might try and egg the mount holes for the latch next time I have the tail off...
