I am considering making the purchase of an 1125R. It would be an 08. I am going to try to take advantage of the buell no excuses offer on them to get a low rate on financing.
The thing is I don't know if the place shot me a good price. They told me $8900.00. I am sure I could get them to hold to that "out the door" or at least I would try to. Is that a good price or should I keep looking? Next if I do buy one out of the crate what should I have the place do before leaving with it in terms of updates or recalls? You guys have already been there and done that so I thought I would ask. Lastly is the 1125 R the way to go or should I not take the chance on this bike and get a lightning or something?

Do it. I traded in my 05 cityX last summer on an 08, no regrets. I paid $9995 plus f&p, so I'd say that's a good deal. They are required to do all recalls before you take delivery, but of course it doesn't hurt to mention to them to double check that everything is done.

They have to do the recalls before selling the bike, you shouldn't have to tell them. $8900 OTD doesn't seem like a bad price, but that depends on your state's fees and taxes more than anything else. I have an 09, but it seems like 9 out of 10 2008 owners haven't had too much to complain about. If you're in the market for a lightning, you may want to look at spending a bit more money than you would on that 08 1125R and get a CR with the handlebar kit.

That price doesn't sound bad, at least compared to what I paid for mine in early 2008... you're saving close to four grand. Four grand will buy lotsa other stuff...

I can't speak for everybody, but my 2008 1125R has been fantastic. No problems and it takes abuse like a champ. A lot of fun to ride.

If you like liquid-cooled V-Twins, I would also consider Ducati (848, 1198), Aprilia RSV 1000R, KTM (990 Super Duke), etc., but the Buell is the best bang for the buck and backed by a great company.

Man you guys are nothing but enablers LOL. I thought you would all talk me out of it and save me from myself. I had saw some posts on here that seemed like they were full of glitches. This place has quite a few of the 08's still around. Buell not popular here but who cares about that. I love them. I sold my other bikes and I guess I will try to snatch up the 1125R and join the happy crew unless others talk me out of it.

I just bought my 08 1125r for $8995 before tax and its worth every penny. Go for it, the bike is way better than what I thought it would be. I put 1000 miles on it in the first 5 days I had it.

It's as good as what I got a month ago. But keep in mind to distinguish between recall and warranty repair. You may be seeing a lot of post about problems, the vast majority of which are covered, but the difference being in that a recall is/should be done before you receive the bike (per the law) and a covered repair will be done after it breaks while you own it. i.e. brake like recall will be done before you get it, however, the faulty blinkers and IC will have to break before they will fix them (the rate of which depends upon who you ask). So be *prepared* to take it back in the event this happens, especially if its your only ride.

Continue to research then get that bad boy!
