can anyone tell me if the 09 1125R has a heat shield or blanket on inside the frame to keep some of the heat from the engine off the frame. I was looking at getting the thermal blanket from american sport bike but was wondering if the bike had something on it already.

Blanket may be an overstatement. The Buell heat shield kit is 3-4 small pieces. If you are planning to cover the inside of the frame, you would do much better with the thermal shield from American Sport Bike

Odd. According to an E-Mail I got from Al Lighton, the aerogel heat treatment on the '09 models is MORE effective than the thermal heat barrier material he sells.

But I'm sure Al will appreciate the business so if you want to apply the stuff he sells, please go right ahead!

It may be a better material, but Jaimec have you seen how big (or small) the pieces to the kit are? I have seen the kit pictured in the online parts catalog via the dealer's service department. As far as i can tell it's 3 or 4 small pieces. There has also been at least one Badwebber report how disaapointed he was at the amount of coverage with the kit.

If it only covers 25% of the frame, then how effective is the kit? Al's blanket has more than enough to cover the entire inside of the frame, if you are diligent enough and have the motor rotated all the way.

I would call the kit heat band aids! Look in Summit Racing catalog you can get several sizes of sheeting with adhesive backing and cut to fit. So far it has worked for mine. Just another option.
