What is the name of the blue frame color? How do I duplicate it?

I think I want to paint my new fiberglass parts the same color as my '08 blue frame. It might look good with a few yellow accents and the yellow number plates.

Buell calls it Diamond Blue, but I doubt that will help you. I bet an auto paint shop could match it for you...

I like to call it "can't match it to save my life blue" It either comes out too light or too dark.

I'm pretty sure someone on here was tinkering with different colors for painting their bike, and said they "stumbled upon" an exact match for the blue frame/wheels. Stay tuned and maybe they'll see this thread and chime in...

I did match it. Took three hours and you be surprised how much pearl is in it (the hard part). Unfortunately it took me so long and I just started to get pissed. I just started to throw in pearls and different toners I got fed up with writing down what I did. The real problem is the base coat itself is very fragile without a clear over it, a pressure washer would take it off. When I put more hardener or vinyl resin (you paint guys should know this) it would throw it off just enough that it didn't have it's flop in the light. Color books that body shops use won't help you being that they show a tint with a clear coat, this shade only came close to a Toyota color, thats what I started out on and when from there. If I do duplicate it again and able to keep reproduce it over and over I'll post up.

Is the paint from Buell not acceptable? They sell it in aerosol format. I've seen our paint guys do wonders with the Buell pain aerosols. A frame was damaged in shipping between dealerships and in the end we had to repair it. All they had was the aerosal, but they made it look good as new. I thought it was a different bike at first.

Either way, didn't know if you knew they had an aerosol or not.

I personally need to get the touch-up. My frame has a few wear spots around the bottom corners.

Justin saw you bike in your profile. Got any more pics? That looks great. How does it look from the side or angling. That's exactly what I was thinking about.

BTW do you have to use pearl? Could you use a plain solid color?

Steel thanks for the info. That will come in handy.

Pearl is a must, it's a very metallic color. nothing solid will come close to it.

Steeltech, I just ordered both can and touch-up. Maybe I can match from them.
