Most of you will remember the last little tirade I posted about this place. Well..the plot just thickened. I picked my bike up last Monday, and upon examination discovered that the coolant was almost empty. None in the reservoir and very little was contained in the radiators themselves. I took that as a great opportunity to change over to engine ice. That aside, I called the dealership to inform them of the oversight, and it was promptly swept under the rug, confirmed by a visit over there on wednesday.

Wednesday night, I got a phone call from some lady doing a customer service satisfaction survey. I'm paraphrasing but the conversation went more or less like this:

Lady: How would you rate your service experience at Cajun HD, excellent, fair or poor?

Me: Take the lowest score you have and subtract a few more from it. I'm serious.

Her: laughing her ass off, then she asked me to explain what I meant

Me: explains the whole last rant, and added onto it with this: While my bike was in for the post crash repairs and recall upgrades there were several delays, some arguing, oh, and they put my 5th gear recall on another bike, and thus had to order me a different one. I also mentioned the whole coolant issue.

Her: Are you serious? Tell me, what do you think could be done to improve the service there?

Me: Burn the place down and build a new one and start all over. Just kidding, in all seriousness, some house cleaning needs to be done in the service department. There are a few good employees there, but many of them simply have no business working there. I told her the name of the best one, and suggested that she be allowed to run the place.

There was a bit more conversation, but as I was taking a pit stop during a ride, I had to cut the conversation short.

Fast forward to thursday morning, around 9:30am. I get a phone call from Cajun HD. The guy on the phone advises me that I have been banned from the property and am no longer welcome there, and should I return, I will be escorted off the premises by law enforcement.

Nice.

I've bought 3 bikes there, my parents have also bought several, and a few friends have purchased bikes from them based on my recommendations. The service department sucks, but the bike selection, and the sales guys are TOP NOTCH.

Oh well. I had no plans to go back there for service, but it was nice to go check out the bikes. Shame too, because I work about 1/2 mile away from there.

Oh well. I said it before, and I'll say it again.

Just some suggestions. Contact the following entities and let them know your story.

1. Harley Davidson
2. Buell
3. Your local Better Business Bureau

The BBB is great resource.

Swap 1 and 2, and add Court to the list at #3, BBB #4.

Sounds like it's time to do them a favor and get them started with burning the place to the ground so they can start over...

Mr_incognito good piont, a safety thing. lookin at it that way i can see why some pig headed people(dealer staff) would look past the obvious terrible customer service problem to the arson threat

when did this person start thinkin about other people?

Zack don't worry you have your own H/D dealer service center (that by the way does not let the bike out of the shop without all fluids and pressures set at factory spec) that will even add an extra coolant tank if you do not use the passenger pegs. hahahaha dont forget the CHili's

ha i thought you were talking about bayou country at first and was gonna be like NO WAY cuz those guys are all amazing there, by far the best harley/buell shop i've ever been in! Sounds like my luck w/ harley/buell of jackson, they kept me waiting a month and when i called to ask about my bike the shop manager hung up on me so i called customer service and they presumably called him and told him what i said and he called my cell phone and went off about how if i had a problem w/ him to pick up a phone and call him i said "um yeah...already tried that bud" and told me to find another shop to get my bike fixed at...i told him gladly! and then he went on about the regulator bein on back order, wow! that was complicated! cuz he shoulda told me that as soon as he found out! so i call around and actually got the part from cajun hd, the parts guy seemed cool, and put it on my self 3 days later when it arrived! beat waiting another month on a back ordered part and a lot of attitude!

I have learned a lot around here.

Frequent visits to dealers is not a problem, in fact it gives you opportunities to meet with said people, Most Buells are Air Cooled, no coolant would be the norm so the employee acted within expectations. You are out of line expecting wet stuff in your wet stuff holder.

You were supposed to refer to the short falls as niggles and character.

geeezzzzhhhhh

(this is a joke) You have every right to be upset with your dealer. Worst part is how could you ever feel comforatable going back even if they invited you under pressure. I think the personal change is likely the correct way as you are not likely the only customer

What amazes me, as an entrepreneur and business owner for 20+ years, is that a dealership would willing punt away such a wonderful opportunity to create goodwill, future business and MAKE MONEY.

Little mention is made of a dealer who does good and just keeps doing good. Frankly it makes up the bulk of those hundreds of dealers we just never hear about here.

What does raise eyebrows is when a dealer hears something like this and goes above and beyond to resolve the situation.

In all candor it's one of the reason I am addicted to Buell, the company. There are the normal hiccups of commerce but I am always comfortable knowing that the marching orders at Buell respect the customer. The Elves are not perfect, they are responsive and responsible.

Shame and, I have to tell you, as a businessman knowing there are folks like that scares me.

I am in the process of researching and preparing a rather detailed paper about customer service in this day and age, how it's changed over the years and where the instant opportunities lie. It sounds like it would be wasted on these guys.

ha yeah court dont complicate things now! why would anyone want return business??? i know most dealers are genuinely good folks, but unfortunately there are a few out there that give the rest a bad name...and it really sucks because it scares a lot of people off from hd, and that keeps many from even discovering buell...

as far as the "they should burn the place down" comment, it was carefully thought out to avoid the potential of it being a threat. I didn't say "i'm going to burn it down" or "it's gonna get burned down". the words i used were selected to convey a point. the place is useless, hopeless, and beyond hope of repair. their best option is to start anew.

I would caution against being dramatic or trying to be overly eloquent in making your case.

Just be straight forward and stick to the facts. After 30 years dealing with corporate politics I have finally come to learn that communicating your case in a very matter of fact and as direct and to the point as possible is your best bet.

Being overly dramatic and trying to sell your view runs the risk of being interpreted as grasping at straws and damaging your credibility.

People in the position of authority who have the ability to take action to help, got there because they have demonstrated sound judgment.

Sticking to the facts shows that you respect their judgment by allowing them to draw their own conclusions.

I got banned from my local dealer in the UK after I mentioned some sub standard warranty work and their failure to tighten up my rear spindle on my M2, on UKBEG. This was supported by Buell UK, who to be fair, did apologise later after admitting they had misread my post. In the UK, the warranty, which we pay for, states you can use any dealer. Action like this renders the statement untrue.
However, the internet is a powerful weapon and my local dealer has lost many sales over this and I still have something else up my sleeve but I'm waiting to be fed the opportunity

My other local dealer, who is much better, has picked up many new customers because of this.

Vengefulness does not work in the long run. Leave them be and do business elsewhere.

It is all about that old adage on how to catch flies.

I agree a lot with what Asbjorn(Doerman) has said and others in this thread and hope what Court is preparing will do some good, somewhere.

With my particular dealer, I have been very humble and considerate of their almost total lack of interest in Buell and their products, let alone their high lack of knowledge in Buell bike service. Granted they do 90-95% of their business in HD products and I believe thats why they are the way they are. If they were to loose Buell it probably won't hurt their business too much. Three dealers here are owned by the same people and only one has Buell. It is 50 miles from my house.

Being the only Buell dealer within several hundred miles I still try hard to work with them, help them with info from here in a positive, but humble way, and try hard to allow for their really bad, stupid mistakes. (No factory training and it seems like they do not even open a Buell manual). They are probably great at HD's but thats where their expertise ends.

BUT, I will still work with them, be considerate of their learning rate, as I would a child, help whenever possible, put my ego aside, and be the winner in the end, i.e., get what I want, better service in the long run. Maybe there is a lesson to be learned here. BMC is still the greatest motorcycle company in the world, just not ALL their dealers as others have found out. Bob
