P.S. someone somewhere is going to have to lay out the bucks to secure a top-flight rider for the balance of the FX season, McWilliams isn't committed for the season, is he? Can't they entice over one of the leading young flattrackers? It always worked in the past, Roberts, Shobert and Co., remember?

As a former race team owner (14 years) that raced Buells in the Buell Lightning series, a VR1000 in FUSA, and Gobert's Muzzy world superbike in FUSA, and having known Court & Erik for many years, I am very well aware of what it takes to win races, and to build a competitive race bike.
What Erik an Co. did, and are doing, is a fairly amazing effort, and I beleive that it will produce results this year.

Also, having just visited this site for the first time a few days ago, I am quite shocked at some of the accusations and animosity towards other people. Court is a very upstanding person, and is quite sincere and knowledgable of what he speaks in regards to Buells and motorcycles. Also, I beleive that he has more miles on a Lightning than anyone else EVER in the history of Buell. And to tell you how much of a Buell enthusiast Court is, I was working on RR1000 #1 at Heartland Park in Topeka in 1990 with Scott Zampach riding it, and it had transmission problems, and Erik called Court from WI and an hour later Court shows up with a complete XR1000 engine in his trunk. We did not have time to swap the engine, but it was awsome anyways.
Court really has been there since day one with the Buells. Not as an employee, but as a real enthusiast.
He does not get paid for his enthusiasm, or knowledge, and it suprises me to see the kind of personal attacks shown here.

Welcome to the internet trash talking venues. At some point someone throws down the guantlet and start getting personal in their attacks and opinions. I usually go ahead and engage them and have yet to resort to any name calling or obscenities I can't say the same for others, that's what really drives them into a frenzy. Engage them with facts, calm words and logic. You can just about see them exploding back on their keyboards. I guess it's all about the "sport" of the internet.

"The XBRR is slow where it counts. LAP TIMES"

Didn't this bike qualify in 8th position.

How does this qualify as SLOW?

I am puzzled on this!

Besides, if it really were slow, the Japs would be blase on the whole deal. They are not!

I've received responses from both Deeley and Warr's so far in response to my emails.

Not form letters, but responses to what I said in my emails. How cool is that?

Oh yeah, I won a t-shirt from Hal's this month after I signed in on their web site.

Karma rocks!

Rocketsprink

<Please, refer to yourself as Rocketman. All other, please do the same>

Rocket has been Rocket here for as long as I can remember (which on some days is about an hour, but I do know he has been giving Court s h i t for a very long time) You will have to be RocketSprink.

And Rocket, you have to let us 'mericans get all excited about a 'merican bike actually running fast in the biggest 'merican race. Yes we know on a world scale it is just a national event with second rate bikes and riders but it is the biggest race we've got and it has been decades since we have seen a truly fast 'merican bike "in the hunt" so to speak. One that looks like it has the balls to actually win some races over here.

I'm not bragging around my Honda riding friends but I am hoping to be able to later this year.

And you have to let go of this "Buell needs to build a superbike and go racing a world stage. Personally I think it will happen and I hope I can still get around well enough to attend the event ;) What I am saying is that it will be a long time.

Ducati is a force and it woudl be cool to compete with them but they have been a around a long time and have a lot more bikes than Buell, I think they currently move 4-5 times the number of bike Buell does.

Erik is not going to ask H-D to fund a racign effort. He is going to do exactly what he is doing with the RR, he is going to grow his company until it can support what ever racing he wants to do.

BUT Erik's goal is. I think, to make Buell a profitable company able to stand on it's own two feet irregardless of how much money H-D has or does not have.

I think that at some point in the next 20 years H-D is gonna hit a very rough patch and if Buell is alive only because they can get extra cash from Harley then they will be the first thing to die.

Buell must be, and I think at this point they are, profitable and able to pay for developement, marketing, racing and whatever on a long term basis. I beleive that when Buell is profitable enough to be able to dump millions into racing (and it makes sense as a marketing tool) then you will see Erik building a world beating race bike. Until then we will have to celebrate racing success on a smaller stage.

And Rocket whats with MCN calling McWilliams a Brit? I mean technically he is but can't they bring themselves to call an Irishman an Irishman? (It's two days before St. Patrick's Day and this old Repiblican can't resist a dig at the Unionists!!

Dude you are just flat out wrong in this statement. To be 1.5 seconds off the pole in your first race and at a HP track at that is not slow by any definition of the word.

On another note, I wrote to Warr's to thank them for their effort. They replied and said they're sending me a Warr's Daytona Tee Shirt. I must say VERY, VERY cool.

Dave, thanks for the understanding. Your solution to my criticism of the XBRR's at Daytona was blindingly wonderful, if only it were true LOL.

I've never considered Erik Buell's situation in such a shining light, and it's an admirable and stand up one if you're right in what you say. But a (what is it?) 2% share in the company makes me think your prediction isn't possible. That is, the state of both Buells future as a company where EB's concerned, and Buell in motorcycle racing the way you see it. Maybe I could buy it if EB were in full enough control of the company, but whether you're right or not isn't really my business or the issue in hand. So that said, wouldn't it be better that someone of Court's unofficial yet well heeled standing within the Buell company, not speak in such tones that serve no purpose other than to belittle the likes of I who dare offer criticism against Buell from time to time? Of course, that'd be my opinion offered as Buell owner and BadWeB contributor, otherwise what right have I anyway. Even if I'm wrong to do so, or out on a limb, there are better ways to appease the critics, like you just so eloquently demonstrated Dave. What a shame we can't engage in a debate that gets the same sort of answers you just gave Dave, rather than Court dividing the ranks into positive and negatives persons, the latter who are allegedly loud and aggressive and vexations to the spirit. That's just crap.

Imagine if we were all sat around a pub table quaffing down a few pints, and I said Buells performance at Daytona was pisspoor. No doubt many would laugh, seeing such humour in the statement, then we'd sit there as friends and debate it as friends, and carry on drinking, and debating, but there'd be none of the underlying crap that gets posted here. So do I really care that not three people at the plant know me? Am I to be frowned upon because I like my Ducati? Would such mutterings be offered across the pub table? Yes for sure, as a source of laughter amongst friends. But that's not how they came across here or were meant. Anyway, if you read the XBRR threads I apologized for my harsh criticism of Jezza's bike failing. There was no need for it to go any further, but the condescending nature of Court's interfering posts shouldn't go unanswered when they become those of a personal nature. As for giving the man s h i t for a long time, that's actually a two way street if anyone cares to read the archives.

Irishman is politically incorrect, depending on which side of which border you're standing, or which daily rag you wipe yer arse on, I think.

On the bigger scale 1.5 seconds a lap is a long way from the leader after 200 miles if pole and 8th finish the race in relative formats. That was my point.

As for the blow job, had one last Saturday thanks.

Rocket (the 1st),

You know, you’ve become a tough read of late -– almost as tough as Court at times. Why, I remember a few years ago, a post of yours, I like to think of ‘Rocket in Love’. I could almost invasion the butterflies fluttering and the birds chirping.
Step back from the dark side, mate.

Sorry for havin’ some fun at your expense, but here’s some more: You know, I could have been your King. Unfortunately, my ancestor, The Lord Protector, turned down the job. Bummer that they had him exhumed and posthumously 'executed'. May never get over that.

I leave you with this, another quote: “...always look on the bright side of life...”

cheers

Steve, I'm on no dark side but there are some shitheads here who'd have you believe that.

Me criticizing Buell for whatever reason gives the shitheads an opportunity to work their evil by using my criticisms against me. I know who they are, and they know I know. Sadly, you call these people your friends.

Me, I'd kick all three of 'em into touch if I were the fat controller.

VR1000Racer,

Everyone's entitled to his opinion about everything and everybody. Additionally, the internet BB thingy tends to bring out the worst in people. Sort of like driving in a car I guess.

Badweb is the best of sites. You would be really dissappointed with some others. Things can get hot occassionally, but usually cooler heads and apologies prevail.

Please stick around and contribute to our website.

As Lombardi said:

If winning isn't everything, why the hell do they keep score?!

On a personal level, I could care if Buell races or not, I've already bought two and won't buy another until the powertrain gets better - same tq, more HP, and faster/more revs.

As for Daytona, EITHER you come to race and WIN, OR you come to do live R&D and fine tuning. My impression is Buell came to win. IF that is in effect the case, I'm more than glad to see people calling out the apologists - DNF = Did not win - full stop.

If on the other hands, Buell came to to R&D and prep the bike for future races, OK with the DNF.

In my humble opinion, you can't have it both ways and suggesting you can is disrespectful to the other teams and riders that came prepared and won.
