The newest edition of Roadracing World came in the mail today.
David Swarts has an article on the XBRR's legality in the new RRW.
Diversity of design is a recurring theme, as is most liberal rules in roadracing (hence xtreme)
He also goes into detail of how Buell came up with the design, and got approval each step of the way.
Chuck Graves surprized me by coming out in favor of the XBRR, same with Keith Perry of M4 Emgo Suzuki
(Although Perry's ties to the Ulrich family may be construed as bias by some since RRW was given
an exclusive on the XBRR) Richard Stanboli (owner, Attack Performance) is also in favor of the XBRR.
Even if he did think the wording of the original RR press release was "unfortunate"
The sum total is no surprise to us. In the end if it completely overwhelms the competition the AMA will
assess penalties (weight) on the RR. Otherwise, the AMA will do what's good for the sport. It's their rule
book and they can approve anything they want to whenever they want to. It's as simple as re-writing a
line in the rule book. If attendance continues to increase, some have claimed 20% at Daytona, the AMA
will deny any and all protests.
