As predicted, the sum total of the Motor Cycle News coverage from Daytona was a tiny picture of Neil Hodgson's Ducati on the back page, followed by a small piece tucked away on an inner page about the 200 which reads:

'Meanwhile the showpiece Daytona 200 race ended in farce after a mistake by race officials saw the safety car deployed into the wrong part of the pack.
The race, now for 600cc bikes and big air-cooled twins after full on superbikes were deemed too fast, was won by Honda's Jake Zemke from Josh Hayes in second and Jason DiSalvo in third. But the first three were allowed to pull almost a lap ahead when the pace car, called on track to slow the field for safety reasons when a rider fell, failed to ensure it was positioned at the front of the pack for the rolling restart.
Jeremy McWilliams Daytona 200 effort ended when hi Buell XBRR was delayed during a pit stop because of apparent braking problems. The Brit had looked set for a shock top 10 finish.'

That is it, no pics and wrong information, but that is what the majority of the British motorcycling public will know of Daytona 2006, if they can be bothered to read that far.

To be fair, Buell has had great press in MCN UK for a number of years, and the "The Brit had looked set for a shock top 10 finish" comment sounded like good press to me given no one over here is at all interested in the 200.
