I tried dialing 911 one time and my phone, must be a bad product, only goes to the number 9. I couldn't, and still can't, find the 11.

I like "jetsam" better than "flotsam."

Who still here can remember when this page constituted the whole of BadWeB?

I remember the Kxkidd : (
I remember when we all got along, before the rules.

Just added it up. I've been here for seven years....
Maybe I need to get a life ;)

Still a pup. I can live with that : )

On a Buell note, I recently(probably something to do with this seven year itch thing) had an urge to buy one of those ugly S2 bikes. Upon checking with the local rego blokes, I found out that as it was never officially imported into Holland, I would need to get it homologated and pay 16,000 euros for the privilege. That's not a typo.
Alternately, I could ship it to Germany, pay 4,000 there for the same thing, find someone to register it to, then buy it from them and pay 100 euros here to swap the rego over.
My question then, is whether the S2 was ever officially imported into a current EU country? If it was, then it's simply a matter of registering it there for next to nothing, then swapping the rego over to here...

Who would I need to ask?

The ones that stayed, and accepted the rules, generally still get along : )
There's still a decent size slice of pie missing though, that left because of the rules.

Nothing personal here at all.

Seeing as that might be the perception some have, including Susan Wilson - who emailed me, I'll explain my comments. Court is at fault here.

As far as I'm concerned, someone of Court's caliber should know better than to promote NRHS on the BadWeB given the current status-quo.

There has been a problem most of us regulars are aware of to some degree, between NRHS and Blake. Court is certainly one of those regulars, and he probably more than anyone else, given his depth of contribution on the BadWeB, should know better than to constantly praise the skills and business of NRHS and Aaron Wilson when it is not in Blake's, or perhaps more importantly, the BadWeB's, interests to do so.

This Buell forum has grown over the years to such size that it needs funding to continue to thrive. Blake secures that funding with sponsorship, and way before any problems might have reared their ugly head between any parties in recent times, Blake has stuck hard and fast to his policy on sponsorship for as long as sponsorship has been on the BadWeB. Nothing has changed. Not even slightly.

So why then would and does Court continue to praise NRHS and Aaron Wilson on the BadWeB when he says he is a friend to both Aaron Wilson and Blake? To me that smacks of taking sides.

It's no secret on the BadWeB I have little liking for Aaron Wilson, and yes he had some nice sides to his character, but I assure you with my hand on my children's hearts I wish him nor his business no detriment. We simply fell out. I'm happy he's found a path in life that he likes and I wish his business every success. That said, I also know he has a side, and I've seen it for myself, that I wouldn't consider such a fair side. We've all got them, I know, but in the case of Blake and the BadWeB, it's my opinion, and mine alone, that he's played hard ball. Now whilst I might not be party to all the facts, it's very very clear to me that Blake has made efforts openly on the BadWeB to make up with Aaron Wilson and NRHS. That has not been reciprocated, ever. So how can it be right that the business of Aaron Wilson and NRHS be promoted openly on the BadWeB, and often, by one of the boards major players? It simply can't be.

So do I have anything personal against Court? Not at all. Frankly I don't really know the fella. Whilst he and I met at the Buellganza we really didn't spend any time getting to know each other. No big deal. On the other hand I met Blake at the Buellganza too. In fact he probably wouldn't have showed if it wasn't for me fibbing to him on the phone about Erik Buell turning up, but Blake did, and we got on.

There has been a time since then though when Blake and I didn't see eye to eye, and it was a serious not seeing eye to eye, but we got over it. I consider Blake a good and loyal friend. These things can happen across oceans. So why should I let anyone walk over my friend? That's what Court is doing every time he puts up a post praising Aaron Wilson and NRHS, and he is also doing harm to the business / financial side of the BadWeB. Anyone can see that. No one more so than Court surely, and for that reason he should be man enough to apologize to Blake for doing so. But instead Court claims he stands on neutral territory. Be at least gracious enough to admit your error if you can't offer an apology. Defending your position claiming it's best for your Buell is ridiculous. This is about people. This is about friends.

As for Aaron Wilson and NRHS, I'm sure their future success is safe in such good hands as theirs whether they like what I write on the BadWeB or not. That said, please note that I've said nothing against Aaron Wilson or NRHS, that wasn't in the BadWeB's best interests, since the last head banging session. I'll continue that stance unless shit needs saying that no one else is prepared to say. Court, you started this horse shit, and you should finish it, decently. That is my opinion.

Peter, one can't please all the people all the time. not you, not me, not Blake. i'm betting if you had created BADWEB and nurtured it all these years, you'd have rules to abide by as well.

the bike sites that i've visited over the years that DON'T have rules, as least as far as a little decency and decorum goes, i haven't stayed.

doesn't make me right, doesn't make them wrong, just not my cup of mud.

Blake doesn't ask for much here, and what we get in return - for absolutely free - is a cool place to hang out and talk about bikes and pretty much anything else under the sun.

the slice of pie that is missing, as you put it, is still here, they just don't post as often. their "absence" hasn't seemed to diminish the quality or popularity of BADWEB.

and, the beauty of the internet is that if you DO need to visit a bike site that's an absolute free-for-all, it's one click away.

win-win, as i see it.

regarding Art's original engine question, Blake's orginal response (it's archived on the page preceeding this one) is about as upbeat, level-headed, calm, cool and professional as ANYONE here could expect to bang out on the keyboard.

say what you will about Blake (and i have NOT always agreed with him on every issue over the years), i think he's done himself - and BADWEB - proud in this latest little rise in the overall ambient temperature.

peace.

Jerry,
I'm just a bloke that detests rules. I've been fighting people all my life about it : )
Being told that I cannot say good things about Aaron's work because he hasn't bought the rights for me to do so this month, irks the hell out of me.
Seeing Rocket trying to enforce that reasoning in the post above, makes me want to fight, or walk away. Both are lose reactions, so I'll just continue to go against the rules.

I'd give an open cheque to Aaron(NRHS) and Wes(CycleRama). No problem.

Shoot me.

Peter, not gonna shoot you (or anyone else). i'm not much for rules, myself, usually. but without naming names, if you wanna experience a Buell enthusiast site WITHOUT rules, well, you know the address.

i like THIS address better.

bit of a sticky wicket WRT Blake and Aaron, one i'm barely qualified to comment on. i like 'em both, consider both friends, and i don't think my loyalty to BADWEB has diminished Aaron's or Susan's respect for me.

i WILL say this: if you (or i) had a website that sold sponsorships, we would want to protect the value of the sponsor's investment as best we could. perhaps we would even try to enforce a policy where non-sponsors didn't get free advertising?

Rocket's well-articulated thoughts above differ in mine in some respects. i say that not to disrespect him, only to emphasize that when you verbalize your thoughts regarding Blake and Aaron, what Rocket has said is his opinion, what i have said is my opinion, and it isn't necessarily fair to lump your reaction to our respective words together into one pile.

this is a tough deal, Blake and Aaron, and i'm trying to see both sides as best i can. i understand your frustration (as much as i can considering we're two different people with differing points of view), but for Blake to continue to offer top value to BADWEB's sponsors, isn't he doing the right thing by desiring that non-sponsors don't get free advertising?

peace.

Peter,

If it upsets you so much, you ought to convince your friend, Aaron to cease shunning our little community here. There is plenty of compromise on the table. He ain't having any of it.

I'll reconsider shooting you the next time I see you. At this point I find it difficult to take you seriously.

Besides, I'd rather here about how you are grooming the kiddo to be the next Rossi.

Jerry,
IF, it were as basic as that I'd probably accept it, but we all know it's not.
It runs much deeper.
Put simply, the rule is being applied here, to benefit one side of the argument, and that's not a good thing.

Josh,
I wasn't giving them a hard time for not obeying the rules. I was giving them a hard time because they nearly maimed me!

Peter, i know this goes way deeper than what we've touched upon, and once it heads that direction i'm in the dark as to the specifics - i avoided it then, for several reasons, and will continue to do so now.

i like the fact that we can each state our case and agree to disagree like gentleman.

I'm thinking I'd run a 10' whip antenna with an orange warning flag. Or maybe a Jolly Roger ;)

Does the Sentinal work like those fish detectors, where they can see where you are in front of them? or just a beep to know they're about to hit someone?

Since history has come up I'll throw in my 2 cents.

It is because of this board that I bought and most likely, still own a Buell. I bought my first Harley product in '93 after many many years of riding Hondas.
Zooks in DesMoines started carrying them in the mid-nineties. I said to myself "hey, those are cool looking cycles.
When I started doing research after a co-worker offered me the same that I paid for my Sporty I found this board.
I noticed that there was concern about the longevity of some of the bikes but there was also great passion about the Brand. I thought that I would like to be part of it. Since buying my S3 I have never looked back.
I have found repair and maintenance ideas to keep the bike in top shape even after 55,000mi. I have made friends from California, through Newfoundland to France. I can't think of any other way that this would have happened. People are still amazed that I'd run off to other places just to ride cycles with someone that I met on the net.
Keep it up, we're doing good!

I remember looking for real world reviews on the new XB9R. I wanted to know the truth behind the Buell myth. I found it here. Once I read the entire KV, Buell came out with a bike I had to have, the XB9S. 40,000+ miles and 8000+ posts later, I'm glad to have become part of Buell (in my own little way) and, a part of BadWeB. I regret neither.
I've not met a BadWeBber I couldn't get along with, I've not met a Bueller I couldn't get along with.

Do ya'll wonder what it'd be like without rules here? My guess it wouldn't be BadWeB any longer.
It's kinda like my boys, I have to remind myself sometimes of this little rule of the universe Grand-Daddy told me once.
"Son, it's the things that drive you crazy that will make them successful."
I miss Grand-Daddy.

That's the whole point of me raising the issue Pete. The rule isn't being enforced at all. My good friend is Blake, and he's been walked over because he's a nice guy who's showing a hell of a lot of tolerance.

It's my opinion that Court is not behaving fairly towards Blake's side of any argument / position / point. Court is simply praising the skills of your friend and his company on an all to frequent basis over the past several months. That sucks for Blake, and ultimately the BadWeB. End of the day, Blake has sponsors to answer to, though this has somewhat more to do with principal amongst friends too. So I for one don't believe Court's position is that considerate towards Blake or his position. How many more times? I couldn't give two shits for Aaron Wilson or NRHS but I'd rather them succeed than fail.

As for me, I've offered to Blake, and to Susan Wilson, to end my participation on the BadWeB if that will help pave the way for Aaron Wilson's return. Let's face it, Aaron Wilson's contributions were and are priceless to the BadWeB / Buell community and I will willingly step aside if everyone here can benefit, which I'm sure they can, if Aaron Wilson returned. At least then I too might get some sleep.

That's it. A stiff Jack and I'm off up the wooden hills!

Wow what a day. Had a nice email exchange with Blake, also with Aaron, and a LOOOONNNG conversation with Pammy. (Any of you who have ever conversed with Pammy know that all conversations with "The Queen" are long ones.) All of this has reminded me of why I read this board for 18 months prior to buying a used S1 in the year 2000, and have hung here long after ATC and Sacborg were removed from my Bookmarks. There are many great folks here who hooked me on a silly brand of scooter, then helped me keep the ornery thing running. While there is less and less technical need for me to come to this place, I find myself emotionally attached, even.... addicted? Today strained my patience with the place, but tonight I read these messages and am glad to be amongst you. Even Rocket, the new Cecil.

But then, I even thought the KxKidd had a certain charm.

Carry on with the debate...
