thinking about selling my D90, it has become too much trouble...
(long story but I do "stupid crap" with it in my hand to get the shots and my family constantly badgers me about how dangerous it is.)
the fun is gone and I no longer enjoy taking pictures so I am contemplating selling my camera and walking away entirely, but I'm still not firm on the idea.

D90 in great condition with a 18-105 lens a 50mm f/1.4 a 70-300mm a a sb-600 flash manfroto tripod and ball head a vanguard sling bag and a small tamron bag

uv filters and polorizers for every lens spare battery for the camera and 2 sets of rechargeable batteries for the flash and all original boxes documents and an additional 7 year warranty on the body and lenses

any idea what its worth?
or should I just pack it up and wait till everything cools down a bit?

That is a good body, keep it. The 7000 was just released which is to be the replacement for the 90. That is going to hurt the 90. The 90 hurt my 80 trade/sell value. I kept my 80 and will upgrade when necessary.

Check out keh.com They are usually pretty good about fair pricing for used camera gear.

D90s are still going for 800 for just the body only on B&H Photo. That is a store that sells the D7000 on the next page.

I bet, with all your accessories, you could easily get a grand, depending on condition of course.

I got my d5000 off of Craigs List and I see a lot of stuff getting sold on CL. At least in my area so that may be your best bet.

If you end up with that 50mm 1.4 lens left over for cheap let me know : )

(I'll send this to you in a PM as well)

Sorry guys I haven't been on here much lately, so thanks to spidey for the pm reminding me to check back here.

I have a little over $3,500 into my setup and everything is pristine and most parts have a 6 years of warranty left.
From the sounds of it the most I could get is about $1,600 for it because that's what some are going for on eBay and craigslist but it's just not enough for me so I'm likely keeping it. The oldest piece is MAYBE a year and a half old.

I think I am just going to hang onto it and hope my family comes around to the fact that I live my life by taking risks and don't know any other way to live. So standing on guardrails roofs hanging from high stuff and standing in the middle of stunt shows or shooting as I'm riding
I refuse to live my life in fear of death, I want to live life before I die. And if one of the things I love to do eventually kills me... Well at least I did it.

Yea me either, but I have crashed.

But since my uncles died from a bicycle crash my whole family has been up in arms about any risk at all, they have an irrational fear that can't be quelled.

Besides who would have ever thought that photography was too dangerous? Lol

I know how it is. I was in the hospital the day after my last big wreck, and found out one of my friends was walking home from work and was killed. A car full of teen’s hung-over, driver fell asleep, jumped the curb, and pinned my friend against the wall. He didn't make it. He wasn't doing anything that millions of others in NYC do every day. He just wasn't lucky. Yet I was the one that hit a car, get tossed over the handlebars, and get carted off in an ambulance.

Life is funny at times.

You'll do . . . . likely . . no better than to keep it. There are 9,990 D90's listed on eBay and new ones are selling as low as around $700.

The lens will depend a bit . . . if the 50mm f1.4 is the AF-S .. they bring about $460 new and hold their value fairly well, the AF-D not so much and you can buy the AF-D gray markets new here in town for about $270.

The 18-105 is selling new for $349 and reconditioned used for $249.

The 70-300mm is selling for $119 - 133 (gray) and $144 new . . unless you have the VR which is going for about $520 and $379 (Nikon refurbished).

The SB-600 sold for around $200 but has been discontinued.

Best bet is likely to either sell it as a package or keep it.

The D90 is a REALLY solid performer and the SB-600 was a nice flash unit. I'm not sure which 50mm you have but I picked up an AF-S recently and it frickin' rocks.

the 70-300 is the VR-II

the 50mm is the older D AF but I chose it over the newer G AF-S because it felt more solid and didn't have a rattly plastic feel.

the performance between the D and G are nearly identical. but the D90 will motor the D so I also didn't NEED the AF-S

the SB600 was discontinued not long ago from what I understand, and I think I was around 250 for it but cant be sure unless I look at my paperwork. I think I'll try and grab 2 more if they are going to be cheap because the D90 will remote command them. (as will the new SB700 so you don't have to fork out for the SB900 anymore)

the 18-105 VR kit lens isn't that much money to buy used but its a good starter lens, nothing to write home about.

the hoya filters add up fast but not worth much of anything used. same for the rest of the stuff except for maybe the tripod.

but in any case I should just hang onto it, its not worth enough in the used market.

Ill be over to your side of the state once or twice this spring/summer and near there (in Hell) another two times. we should get together and you can shoot it up with the 50mm if you like.

There is a ride that a friend of mine and a small group will be making from Hell to Paradise Michigan that I may go on, and a fund raiser for families united in Hell that I like to make every year.
I also want to go to Shelby, and hit up Sport Bike Track Gear so I can try on some high end gloves to see what fits my hands correctly.
