Had a customer just get a 1000 mile service on her bike. And it Whines! Not just a little, alot. All of the specs were done on the 1k, the bike did not do this before. Additionally there are some hard cranking instances. Related? Of course the bike is too quiet and needs a stage one but that is after we get the whine figured out. Thanks for all your help. If this is not the location for this, please let me know and I will repost.

I concur this sounds like a tight primary. on the shifter side of the bike on the bottom is a bolt with a nut up against the case. with the engine running, loosen that bolt and see if your whirring disappears. if so, tighten up your nut while holding the bolt steady. easy to do.

The primary is too tight. It can be run way loose compared to a Sportster. Ask the mechanic how much slack was adjusted out of it after he took the spacer out. It probably shifts funny too now, right?

Shifting was clunky, but then I ride a sporty too, so I didnt notice it too much different than mine. Didnt have a pre ride run for base comparison. Thanks for your help gang. I will get them to get back in the primary
