On the sharpest dirt hairpins are they(he) gearing down to second or all the way to first gear? It also sounded like they were doing several downshifts with the clutch in and throttle off while braking on the approach to each hairpin. Is this preferred to engine braking between downshifts? Sorry for the newbie question, just curious.

Sorry, I have been out of pocket, back to Michigan for family funeral.

It is true, two of our racers went down, hard, one was life flighted from our practice track.

Stay tuned.

Two time World Rally Champion Marcus Gronholm will challenge the Pike’s Peak International hill climb on 19 July in a four-wheel drive, 800 horsepower Ford Fiesta.

After reading Rossi's remarks about IOM TT racers, I wonder what he would say about Pike's Peak?
