And Liberty Waves Buell 1125R came in 3rd after initially being scored 5th. The error was corrected after Timing and Scoring discovered they had counted the warm-up lap, putting Liberty Waves down a lap from the lead bikes.

Oh yeah, one more interesting tidbit on James Gang - Hoban team. They had the editor in chief for Motorcycle.com and a writer for sportrider ride last year's XB12 in the GT2 class. They came in 4th in the class. I talked with the motorcycle.com guy afterward, and he had an absolute great time on the bike.

Look for an article in both of the mags later.

The guy on the bike in Courts picture is Kevin Duke from Motorcycle.com. Standing with him is Matt King, who was the Crew Chief for the 72 bike which ran in the GT2 class. Troy Siahann (s.i.c.) was teamed up with Kevin for the race. Troy writes for Sport Rider. Look forward to articles from each of them! In the back on the right is Bob from Buell, whose last name I forget. His help with tuning issues was a huge boost.

It was really a thrill to finally have the breaks go to the #70 James Gang Buell for once, especially after the heartbreaking outcome of the 8 hour race at Daytona last fall and the tough start we've had this year. Huge kudos go to Mike (Coolice) Kirkpatrick for his excellent preparation. Dave McGrath from Buell and Ronnie from Latus gave us tremendous help with some suspension issues. John Dahmer from Hoban Brothers kept us on an even keel and formulated excellent strategy that was a big factor. Of course, none of it would have been possible without first-class riding on the part of Paul James and Jeff Johnson.

Buell has posted some great pics from the podium after the race on Facebook if anyone wants to look.

Yeah, saw the results Saturday but was a little surprised to see they finished behind the winning GT2 Ducati- ouch. Wasn't as excited after seeing that.

Hey Redbuell, if you'd have seen what we went through to get to that position! We made four stops in a race that should have taken two. All of those stops included tire changes! The weather just didn't come to us. Besides, there's been some controversy surrounding the Touring Sport Ducati team over the last couple years that I won't get into, but Pete knows what I'm talking about. The race finished under a full course caution. The last 6 or so minutes were under yellow behind the pace car. If it would have went green again, Paul may have been able to put the 1125R out front, but who knows. The overall matters not anyway! A class win is all that counts, and they can't take that away!

Why race someone who you aren't racing? If they're not in your class, "beating" them would be like making an extra push to pass a lapped racer before the finish line.

In a race like this in conditions like there were on Saturday, it doesn't make sense to take any risks to pass a bike that you're not racing against.

Congratulations team! Repeating the win may be tough, but you've definitely made some progress since the beginning of the season and should be in a real hunt from here on.

Just sayin'... it's a bummer when the overall winner is in the slower class- for whatever reason. I didn't like it when the ST bikes beat GST bikes when it was Moto-ST, just the same as an LMP2 car beating the LMP1 cars in ALMS.

Yes, a win is a win, and congratulations to you. But for me, I always prefer to see the faster class beat the slower one- it negates the need for explanation.

It was a messy race, that's for sure. Lots of crashes and subsequent yellow flags. As for Touring Sport, I find it hard to believe that either of their riders are THREE SECONDS A LAP FASTER than Jay Springsteen.

Of course, I could be wrong. I'm just sayin'.....
