I'm sure you noticed in that same article series that John also lambasted the AMA for allowing the re-casting of XBRR cases as falling under "unlimited engine modifications". In all fairness, the allowances given Buell for the XBRR exceed Erion's transgression for a polished crankshaft.

Regardless RRW is not immune to the disease they point out, there have been numerous covers with the younger Ullrich on the cover, versus the latest winner of a WSB or GP race.

quote:

Buell was absolutely willing to have the existing XB engine cases machined and welded to achieve the same exact configuration but asked for and was granted a waiver to allow the recasting.

Cut from your other thread. Wasn't aware of that, sorry.

Yeah - the way I look at it was that Buell asked for permssion BEFORE committing (and permission was given). HRC asked for forgiveness (and forgiveness was denied)

I have zero sympathy for HRC. Long story but they can burn in hell on the best of days. I just feel badly for Hayes.

You're talking to a man who lived in Mojave and asking me if I believe in hell?

We live in Lancaster.

Moved to the town of Mojave in 1973. Lived there off and on til a decade ago.

Still in the Mojave Desert though (I'm a desert rat, always will be)
