Anyone ever installed one? I removed by old, broken cable a few years ago when I changed mufflers. I'm going back to a stock muffler and could use any tips available to route the new cable into place.

IIRC there are some very specific routing directions in the SM

Yup - Chapter/Section 7, pages 7-39 thru 7-42. The routing diagram is Figure D-10.

Thanks. It seems that it is going to be a very tight squeeze to get the cable adjuster through the frame mounted clip.

Pages 7-79 to 7-81 are Uly specific with good pictures. Yeah, that guide inside the frame is going to be a beach. Now if you could tie the new cable to the old one and pull it through, oops. Of course if you had all the time in the world you could rotate the engine…

I replaced the center part of my cable, but had to use a cable end that attaches to the cable with a set screw.
If it's possible to get the cable routed without the adjuster, you could cut off the upper cable end, route the cable without the adjuster, put the adjuster section back on, then use a set screw type cable end.
I got the cable end at a bicycle shop. it is a little smaller diameter, but works fine.
I hope this makes sense.
