Hi

I ride a Uly 2006, 81000km
I changed the sparkplugs en did a TPS reset because the Uly was running very bad at low rpm. The TPS adjusting cable snapped but was able to reach the reamains of te cable by removing the plate that holds the airfilter and adjusted the TPS to 5.5. It ran beautifully for About a minute and then i stopped the engine to put everything back together.

I drove it for a couple of minutes and idle was rising to 2000 rpm. Checked it and found one of the sparkplug caps being too loose. Fastened it, adjusted TPS once again and now idle seemed okay but when i started Driving. Idle increased to 3500 rpm and wouldnt drop if I closed the throttle.


Now it runs idle beween 2000 and 4000 rpm and rpm and fluctuating. Sometimes almost stalling. Is this a known problem? What is your idea?
Intake seals? Bad TPS?

Sounds like it's time to start over with the TPS reset. Make sure the throttle cables have maximum slop in them and the throttle butterfly is fully shut.

Warm the engine first. Never do a tps reset on a cold engine.

Instead of setting the tps to 5.5 just set it to 1000 to 1050 rpm. If the idle is set too high it will jump to 2000 or more. As Ratbuell said, set it with a hot engine.

Gonna replace the seals and the broken TPS adjuster cable an then i will do a TPS reset.
The high idle is probably created bij a very lean condition. And the backtfire points tieard that as wel. Any other ideas?

How was your bike running before replacing the spark plugs and doing TPS reset?

You can test the intake seals by removing the air scoop on both sides and spraying brake cleaner up there. If the rpm's change you need seals. If not save your money and time.

Before it was running bad when it was cold.
Under 2500 rpm a lot of stuttering. Above 4000rpm it was running fine. Fuel comsumption increased 25%
When the temperature was good it was running better.
But it started running worst compared to before. And when I was running 120kmh with 3500rpm it had hickups

That could be seals but also could be your tps sensor. It's held in with two screws and has some play in it. Loosen both screws and rotate it clockwise as far as it will go and tighten the screws. This will put added spring pressure on the sensor. If they don't have the pressure holding them back they can bounce around causing erratic behavior. Do a tps reset in the new position then go ride it until it's hot then do a hot tps reset and set your idle at 1050.

Also make sure the battery is good, full charged and the cables are secure.
