...Coming soon to a Uly near you!

My signal lights stopped working on the way home from a trip early this summer. I hand-signalled it home, and did some trouble shooting the next day, discovering that the inevitable had happened -- a ground wire had broken off at the eyelet.

I was quite relieved that the problem was right there in the open, and made a temporary fix by grounding to a good ground location, using bit of wire and a posi-lock (those blue and yellow cylindrical things).

I finally tucked into the others today, suspecting they would not be far behind. It was no surprise to find see them hanging in there by a strand.

I took a bit of heavy wire, crimped and soldered an eyelet on one end, and posi-locked the loom grounds to it. The heavy wire takes most of the movement, hopefully giving the loom ground wires a better chance for a long life.

I found that when the turn signals did not work, neither did the tail light.

This is a VERY common problem, and if you haven't done any fix for it, I would recommend it as preventive maintenance. It can take out the signals, the instrument cluster, and probably just about everything else!

Yep. I think that pretty much exhausts the list of things I've encountered that I can expect to fail prematurely on this bike. Well, except the VR. And maybe the kickstand. : )

Not that I'm complaining -- I researched the daylights out of the Uly, and knew exactly what I was getting into when I bought it.

The troubleshooting and hard work and sharing of information by the BadWeb community have made it bearable, and at times, fun.

Thanks everyone!
