When installing aftermarket bars that don't have the pre-drilled clocking holes for the switches, do you grind the clocking nubs off of the switches or try and drill clocking holes in the new bars? | ||

It is easy enough to do either. The problem with grinding off the clocking pin is that your mounts can slip. Not such a big deal for street riding, but if you hit some trails and stand up it can be a disaster of sorts. | ||

There is only one and it is on the throttle side. It is there to prevent the throttle/ grip section, NOT the switch section, from twisting in use. It is there for a reason. | ||

I ground the pin off on mine. To keep the housings from moving a wrap of servo mounting (cushioned) double side tape does the job. | ||

I bought this bar: http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/9180 from Al @ American Sport Bike. Note: you will also need a shorter clutch cable and front brake line. Optional are shorter throttle cables. I was able to "reroute" them to my satisfaction, though I recommend getting the shorter throttle cables, too. Also needed: http://americansportbike.com/newdir/Item/A9179 if you want to run the hand guards. Figure on close to $400 for the bar swap; with all parts mentioned, replaced. | ||

Teeps, how much lower do the Renthals sit? Width the same? I'd like a pair as the OEs are cheap-looking. Like the clocks for that matter. | ||

Good question, I don't remember. I think they are the same, or very close to, a stock Buell Lightening model; I ordered the Lightening model clutch cable. Had a custom brake link made by a guy Flordia, that makes racing parts. HEL Performance USA | ||

on my 06' I have x-race 1 1/8" risers with renthal 997 twin wall bars.... they are about an inch wider but sit about 1 1/2" lower.  | ||

Yes sir.... Got a zip tie loosely (key word, loosely... About an inch of play) holding the clutch cable back a lil bit to the cross bar otherwise you won't be able to see the odometer. | ||

Your set-up certainly looks better than standard. I've got to work out now whether I can get on with the bars being lower. |
