I'm right at 20000 miles. I have completed the service myself apart from the fork oil change. Any idea how much this costs at HD?

Im not sure if it's the fork oil but when I'm leaning I can feel a loose or rough feeling in the front. I checked the wheel bearing and that is good. Any ideas?

Check your steering head bearings. Really worn ones will cause a clicking noise when you brake hard and let go. If you have the Service Manual you can tighten the bearings and see if that helps. If not, they might need replacing.

Old fork oil would not cause the issue you're having.

How are the tires?

The tires are good. They are the knobby tkc80's. They felt smooth till 1000 miles of use then I began to feel the roughness.

What do you mean by "roughness"? Is it a grinding feel or a bad sound.

There's is no sound. It feels like something is loose, rubbing/friction, grinding possibly.

any chance your tires are deflecting enough to rub on the fender or something like that?
Otherwise, yes, check steering head. Just replaced mine this spring on my '06 with 30k miles.
definitely not the fork oil.
No need to use an HD dealer for that anyway. If you are not comfortable doing it yourself, and decent dealer or independent shop can do it. they are good Showa forks, nothing unusual.
