I would like to know roughly how much fork oil to buy so I can service the forks on my 08 XT. Will 1 quart be enough to cover both forks?

I plan to get everything lined up before I ever tear these apart. Maybe next winter or longer. Holders, seals, bushings, special tools etc.

I plan to buy Amsoil Shock Therapy 10 WT from my nephew who is a dealer and I don't want to order 2 quarts if 1 is plenty. I know the fork oil level is set by measuring and I have a tool for that. I just need a rough estimate on how much fluid is needed please. Thanks!

Motorbike,

I went thru this last year. I have the 09 XB12X w/47mm forks and it uses 1pint exactly per side.

Okay, thanks! I'm guessing the XT would be very similar in capacity. Looks like I better buy 2 quarts, in case I spill a drop.

Hi Motorbike, following the service manual is:

1 liter
2. Pour 8 oz. (236.5 cc) into the slider fork.
3. Pump the damper rod approximately 12 to 4 times or
until resistance is felt.
4. Place the damper rod in the fully bottomed position and
compress fork completely.
5. Pour 8 oz. (236.5 cc) more fork oil into the slider fork.
6. See Figure 2-81. Adjust fork oil level with FRONT FORK OIL LEVEL GAUGE (Part No. B-59000A) to the specified
