This probably is a good one, he also sells a Bluetooth wireless module (a little more difficult to set up, but cool): http://xoptiinside.com/buell_cabletuning_store |

That's where I ordered mine from. I ordered it last Tuesday, it was in my mailbox on Friday. The only concern I have about the cable is the leads between the main cable and the plug that connects to the bike are kind of small and unprotected. Other than that it works just as advertised and it's the best price I could find. |

This is how they all are, or should be, no matter who you buy them from. It is a diagnostic lead, no other protection is required and cable sizing is right. The only thing I do is remove the plugs waterproof "O" ring to make fitting/removing the plug easier. It is not needed anyway unless you are going to do a logged run in the rain? |

Yeah, I wasn't necessarily faulting the cable for how it's put together Uly_man. It's like you said, it's how they all are; but that being said, I would still like for it to be more sturdy because with use twisting could weaken the wires there, or they could get pulled on too hard when getting on or off the bike for a logged run. Sturdier wouldn't hurt, but I don't think there is a better cable available. Removing the o-ring is probably a good idea as they do fit together unnecessarily tight, and a logged run in the rain is unlikely. |

"they do fit together unnecessarily tight". This is the normal way they fit because it is a waterproof seal and you would not ever, or many years, need to take them apart again. This plug is a called a "Deutsch" plug. It is a military grade item, NATO approved and the best you can get any place. Also if the plug, in this application, has all 4 wires in place all are not needed and one is used as a "strain" wire. |

So this was my biggest fear with the cable:
I was out for my first logged run. I had my laptop in my backpack. I had been riding for about 10 minutes or so, my pants were kind of tight in a certain region that I consider highly important. I stood up on the pegs to adjust my pants, and pop. There went the cable. It looks like I can repair it easy enough because I'm crafty like that. I'm going to shorten the lead to a few inches long, and then use a high quality USB extension cord between Lappy-Dos (my laptop), and the Uly USB cord. That way if this happens again it can disconnect at the extension cord instead of ripping the leads out of the Deutsch plug. |

May we suggest, that when you are reterminating the connector, you protect the end with some Raychem heat Shrink. If you do not have access to any, shoot me a PM and I will mail you a couple of pieces. We use the Deutsch connectors for NASCAR/ARCA/Rolex/NHRA data acquisition on a daily basis. Be safe and let us know. Regards PS, this offer is open to anyone that has a need. |

You should have got the Bluetooth, no wires to worry about... |

I would suggest that you mount the laptop bag on the pillion seat and run the lead under the seat to it. That way you will never have a problem. You will also be able to check the laptop data without the need to unpack it from a backpack. |
