Well Let me first say, when you have giant hand working in tight places SUCKS!! I had caught the slight smell of oil burning at a stop light yesterday. So today I decide to investigate.  This is what I found. Valve was starting to vomit on the head, nice. What is the suggested way to clean this up? Next.....  I broke the button on fuel line connection to the fuel rail. Does anyone know if I can just buy the fitting or is a complete fuel line replacement that I'm looking out. Oh yeah My dumb ass pried up on the fuel line button instead of reading the service manual and gently presing down. It was in the way when i was tring to remove the valve. Thanks. Not the inside. The black crinkle finish outside. Thanks. Do you think the fuel line will hold? It's not leaking right now. Still has the button on the bottom intact. | ||

Could you get in there with small black zip-tye? Maybe wrap it around the fitting so it won`t pop off. | ||

That's the second time this happened in a week, unless that was you in the other post. I think the answer was the same, must replace hose or try zip-tie. Actually three zip-ties would be better. One around hose, one around tube and one between those two ties to cinch them together. Clean it? Just put the airbox cover back on and you won't see it.  | ||

One button is 1/4th of the retaining system. It won't leak, but could blow off. It may never be an issue, but 50 psi of fuel is not something I would want to worry about. | ||

Yeah, I can get some small zip ties in there. I do that as a stop gap measure until I can get a fuel line. Griffmeister, It wasn't me the posted before. So, I guess that is twice this week then. Thanks. | ||

I'm guessing you disconnected the hose from the breather valve before the photo...if not, there's a hose that's supposed to connect to that. Have to say a hose would help seal it up  Beyond that, you may need a new grommet. Pull the valve (it "pops" in and out) and you'll see the grommet. If you don't want to pony up the couple bucks for a new grommet, some RTV silicone will work as a temp solution. To clean it once you're done re-sealing...just use brake cleaner. It'll rinse the oil and not leave a residue. | ||

Thanks Ratbuell, I used some brake cleaner today and things cleaned up nicely. Yeah, I had already disconnected the hose. | ||

Just remember silicon can destroy the oxygen sensor. use O2 safe sealer. (Message edited by towpro on September 11, 2011) |
