So i have an 06 uly and im considering hawks muffler with a k&n and ecm reprogram. My question to yall is who has this pipe and do you like it , what are the pros and cons.Ialso have an 08 xb9 with a jardine pipe that i like other than the constant backfiring I can live with it on the 9 because its supposed to be a public nuisance but i dont want that on my uly.I want a good american vtwin sound.

Don't bother with the Hawk, get either the Special Ops or a Drummer. You can then get an ECM from Erik Buell Racing that is tuned for those pipes.

The Jardine is freaking loud, all the other pipes mentioned here are quieter.

I've got a Hawk and I love it. For the sound, turnaround time, & $$ I can't imagine doing anything else. Randy Hawkins was very nice and informative ... I've spoken with him a few times and he's given me good info & suggestions on a few different Buell topics. Just give him a call& talk with him in person before you decide for sure.

Friend of mine has a Hawk, he loves it, and it sounds great. From what I hear, Randy can load maps into your ecm that were tuned just for his pipe.

The Hawk is hands down the best one available. I've had Jardine, factory Race, drummer, DandD, and now on my 5th buell and 2nd Uly I went with Randy Hawkins design. Very simple, get rid of a lot of weight. Very liner power increase across the board until the top end. Then it increases even more. It doesn't beat my eardrums like the DandD. But has a beautiful backpressure rumble. The damn thing is less than $200. Randy Hawkins is a salt-of-the-earth guy. Quite possibly the nicest person I've EVER delt with. Call the guy that makes them and pick his brain. He'll lead you but not from bias. He's had many Buells and knows what he's doing.

I too have a pipe from Randy. Switched from the Termi and couldnt be happier. The bike runs great, the map makes the bike a lot of fun and sounds awesome too.

What is wrong with the stock muffler? It makes too much noise as is. Give me electric quiet.

""What is wrong with the stock muffler? It makes too much noise as is. Give me electric quiet.""

Evidently, you my friend, have never experienced the joy
of BLIPPING an obnoxiously loud exhaust.

At stop lights, past school zones, in bike night parking lots, and tooling
past biker bars, oh yeah - it's all good, bro.

John,
I know what you mean. I've got quite the intake honk on my bike with the opened up airbox. I just wish I could go outside and not hear anything but nature instead of the drone of vehicles all the time.

Wise Buellers listen to Froggy Man.

Don't mess around and screw up your bike. A muffler has a huge effect on how the engine runs.

That and the guy selling the things comported himself very poorly here, repeatedly advertising but refusing to help support the site. Got so bad he had to be banned.

I'd not be surprised if one of the posters above isn't him masquerading

Blake ... no offense, I'm not Randy my name is Aaron, but slandering him behind his back is a bit childish. The question was about about his muffler. I love mine, the best $$ I've spent on my Buell so far. And as far as Randy himself, 85% of the time I've spent talking with him didn't even have anything to do with his product. I got my money's worth and then some so I don't really appreciate someone speaking badly about another who can't represent himself. I've never read a bad thing about a Hawk muffler from someone who actually bought one.

Well now, maybe it is Schwara - after all, he's the first one to say he wasn't.

What about Thesmaz, seems like those mufflers might be coming in from Italy.

Maybe they're both in cahoots.

It's all very suspicious.

Aaron, you weren't around on here when Randy repeatedly broke the rules resulting in a ban, then he had his mob of goons come on here and attack users after a negative review was posted. He was banned yet still made up several new accounts to continue to promote his products on here. He might be a great guy on the phone to his customers, but the way he conducted himself on here is inexcusable at best and made him look like a jackass.

Given his actions in the past, it isn't that unlikely that a relativity new member on here praising Randy's work would seem suspicious. Please don't take Blake's concerns the wrong way.

You can remap the one you have. Go for it. If its an outstanding map, you can sell it for $250 a copy, and people will be happy to pay it.

Which is a good thing, as you will owe your dyno operator thousands by the time you get the map 90% done. And the last 10% will take the other 90% of the time...

Slander or libel would mean making statements about someone that are knowingly false.

Nothing Blake stated is false.

I think that the Uly muffler looks like something that fell off of my '55 Chevy PU but heavier.

Two questions for you after market muffler users...

Can anyone of them support the weight of the bike? If no, how do you jack up your bike with a bike jack?

I have the Jardine(yes, it works perfect!) and no, you can't jack the bike up with them on, or at least I wouldn't risk crunching them, this stuff costs money. However, I can remove my can totally in 10 mins. Or with one bolt be able to pivot it off to the side(assuming the chin fairing is gone). That takes 5 mins. Or you can just make a brace out of wood to hold the weight around the can. I've seen people do that to.

The Drummer and Special Ops and Buell Race Exhaust can still be jacked by the muffler, most of the aftermarket ones cannot due to being made out of softer metals like aluminum.

The proper way, using swingarm and tree stands. Faster, safer, and easier than using the questionable muffler jack.

If he does, you're welcome to google it up. I'd really rather not promote it here given history. Thanks for understanding.

Sure would be nice if the folks taking advantage of the forum here would look to support those who do step up and help fund the ongoing operation of the place as opposed to those who refuse to do so.
