Thanks - on their web site you can pay $20 to become a preferred customer, then buy it for something like $8 per quart.

I think I will make the switch to both holes, at the next change.

I'm a perfered member. Oil is $8.40 per quart, and the Wix filters are $12.50 (EDIT: $6.25 each, that $12.50 was for 2). I also live next to a distribution center, so no shipping costs. It's a good deal if you do more than 3 oil changes per year.

I use the same 20w50 in both the engine and primary/tranny or both my XB's.

This change I used Amsoil 20/50 in the tranny and Redline in the motor. I ran M1 VT 20/50 previously, but it seems to shift better with the Amsoil.

Next change I plan to try the Redline Light Shockproof.

Yes, I do. The stator should live longer w/ Amsoil in the primary as it's better at conducting heat away than dino oil.

I use Amsoil in both holes on my XT, for some reason it's quieter than with Mobile V-twin.

Yup, and liking it. Shifts good. Ran mobile1 15-50 in the primary before, and like the Amsoil better.

Ah, my fault, upon further inspection, that $12.50 was for 2 wix filters!

Difference is, one's motorcycle specific, the other not. Different friction modifiers? Whats exchange rate on AU vs US $ ??

Wow Red, that's one hell of a rip off price! About $18.75 a quart.

heh yeah, should see the price of the bikes new. I think the last owner of my bike paid $18300 for a bare XT.

Thats going to be close to $100 to change oil and filter

Must be one heck of an import duty on stuff in OZ! That would be over $16,000 for an XT in US funds!! Whats a quart of dino motorcycle oil go for? It may still be a good product to consider...relatively speaking. I use AMS because I think we're asking alot out of only 80 oz of oil. I still change it at 5K mi, but dont worry if I go 6 or 7 on a long trip.

Jphish +1 Like knowing if I go a little over, it's all good.

Red, that's a lot of ching, for an oil change. But - Primary 1 / 10,000 miles isn't to bad. 2.5 in the motor, you still have .5 qt left over : )

I think $40.00 a bunch! But you have to decide if it's worth the investment. If you have the money to spend, it is well spent.

It seems like a decent oil to use by all reports, so its going to be worth the cost.
It might even quieten that topend rattle

I changed both holes to AMS @ 1000mi - so have no comparison to whether it makes it quieter. BUT...my brother has oil thermo on his HD - it runs about 15-20* cooler with AMS vs dino oil. My Uly does NOT like hot weather & slow speeds - (city traffic) Anything I can do to protect the 'engine vitals' I think is worth it - I dont sell AMS - I just use it.

My racing partner is sponsored by Amsoil so I use it in both holes and love it. I use it in the Harley and my cars. We pulled the race motor apart after two years of racing. (eight races) We found it a waste of time, the insides were beautiful. We now just watch for the compression to start going south but it just keeps going and going and...
