Last weekend was my last big ride for awhile, so I figured an update was necessary. There's the possibility of another 2000 miles in November, but it may come down to next year. Regardless... This last ride was 1200 miles of super-slab. The first half was cool and raining  . Second half was sunny and warm. These tires have blown away my expectations... notice I'm STILL a safe distance from the wear bars: (rear tire, wear bar is just left of center)  Official Update: Rear after 8500 miles: 0.084" - Just shy of 3/32's - 32% life left  Front 0.112" - Just under 4/32's - 71% life left!   | ||

This past trip was of moderate weight: 3 gallon fuel cell on the back seat Both side cases 2/3's full Top case mostly empty. (and I weigh in at 135 plus gear) | ||

My son weighs in around 140 pounds and his D616 tire looks like new and he's put quite a few thousand on his 07 ULY. I think body weight plays a good part in how long a tire lasts. My tires don't fare as well but then I'm about 210 with clothes on these days. | ||

I get pretty good wear out of my tires - 170# in full gear. Got 7k on my Syncs, now at 3k on Distanzias with a long way to go. | ||

Mike, Thanks for the updates. Always good to hear from you. I have a new set of Scorp Trails ready to go on. Don't quite need them yet, but anxious to get them on. Did you wrench them on your self? I usually do my own tires, but have been thinking of using a non dealer MC shop for convenience. I ride an 08 X, by the way. It'll be my first set of replacement tires after over 6,000. Thanks for all your info! | ||

Did you wrench them on your self? I helped WolfRidge put them on; he has a harbor freight tire changer. They didn't seem any harder to install than any other tire he's done. And yeah, I think rider weight helps tire wear, but not as much as trying to avoid heavy acceleration and breaking. | ||

Oops, misread your initial post, and thought you were complaining about the mileage. That's GREAT to hear! I have a cross-country trip coming up, and I can't find any Trails anywhere. Maybe the tire would actually last the trip. That would be around 10K miles total, but I would also be carrying all my camping gear...so much for the 140 lb weight. --Doc | ||

I've been loaded on most of my miles, and I'm going to hit the 10k mark no question. If you're not crazy on the throttle and/or brakes, you should make it! Motorcycle Superstore has them in stock. I called my local shop (Iron Pony) and they can get them too, but they'd cost over $50 more per tire! | ||

132 in the fifth grade. I was down to 210, after being as high as 350. Skinny people are the reason we have wars. Fat people are jealous, and have to take it out on something LOL. | ||

Impressive numbers. Got about 3k on a rear D616 now, after 2/3 of the Homecoming loop (2-up riding, over GVWR the whole time), a bunch of screwing around at home, and just finished the WVBR weekend (also loaded heavy - 3 full bags plus bedroll and camping chair on the passenger seat). I go about 200# in gear, when I ride solo and empty I run 36/38 f/r; loaded heavy I up to 38/40. With all that slab, it looks like the rear is about half gone at right around 3k miles... How are the trails offroad? More comparable to the 616? Or the sync? | ||

The Trails should be a happy medium between the 616 and sync offroad. If offroad is your focus, than the 616's will be better, and the distanza's even better yet. Just keep in mind that the more offroad oriented you go, the more you'll be sacrificing in treadlife and on-road handling. | ||

Offroad isn't a "focus" of mine, I'm probably 80/20...but I do use that 20%, and want to keep the bike upright. If there was a distanzia in the right size, I'd consider it...but the more touring I do on the Uly (damned luggage space!), the more I'm considering going higher-mileage. And I know it's a balance between mileage and muck capability. I just wish they'd throw dual-compound tech into a 616! | ||

135 lbs I have all of you beat 185 lbs in 6th grade. 5000 drives like a old man no wheelies no fast starts hell if I drive that way I would get 7,000 out of a tire. 220 lbs  |
