I have a 09 XT that I just installed a Drummer muffler on a few weeks ago. It runs much better than the stock muffler, but has the decel pop that I have read about here. The question is, does that decel pop cause damage in the long run or not and should I get a new Erik Buell Racing ECM soon or can it wait? |

I don't think it would hurt it. However there are people here more knowledgeable than I am. I have a Drummer and K&N, I put the Erik Buell Racing ECM on mine and the popping stopped. |

What exactly causes the popping? I've noticed this lately on my stock 09 XT. |

I believe it to be a lean condition. Crack the throttle just a tad if it bothers you - until you get a permanent fix like an Erik Buell Racing ECM! |

Rich mixture or leak in header/muffler. Use Spy and take some fuel out of zone 2 or find/fix the leak... |

its just rich on decel, doesn't do any harm...the ebr race ecm will do the trick...try riding the bike at 3000rpm for a few miles and see what happens...the 02 will work on the lower end of the map from this point and alot of it will go away...call me if you have any questions..cell # is 828-381-7546 Kevin Drum www.kdfab.com |
